A new era?

Unread postby asandir » 31 Dec 2007, 00:46

Well, today is my second last day of work, though I am not doing anything other than cleaning my desk, binning confidential paperwork etc .... 7 and a half years working here, and it ends on the 2nd of January .... though that day will be spent at the Moon and Sixpence, with a counter meal and cold pints of Stella

it's kind of like an end of an era for me for a number of reasons, work changing obviously is the major one, likely a different forum presence is another .... I'm not sure what it means for my CH posting, no doubt in general my posting rate will drop (I hear a collective sigh of relief :) ) depending on what I do for my next job it may drop off to very little, but I hope not

I will definately miss my job, mostly because it was easy to get time to post a little ;) and watch the occasional DVD .... like the whole Buffy series, NCIS and probably a couple of hundred movies :D in the past 7 months, now I will likely have to get used to not having that latitude - but I am taking it as a bonus that I got to do it

it seems a little weird, but I'm super buzzed to be going. I was walking to work today listening to (what I call) good music on my mp3 player and almost bouncing down the road, foot tapping on the train, smile on my dial .... stoked really, looking forward to the challenge of new work, but also my payout, bring that sh!t ON! :D

It just feels like an ending, or a new beginning you know?

I feel you, the wind now shifts in a different direction :) Whatever you find I wish you luck and hope we won't have to miss you :D

Sorry to hear that your job is ending. That has happened to me quite a few times already here in the States. Fortunately, we have a little something called unemployment insurance. Whenever someone gets laid off or sacked without a valid reason, they are entitled to collect unemployment for 26 weeks while they are looking for another job. I hope you have the same kind of thing in Australia.

Anyhow, now you'll have to get your own home computer so you can visit the Round Table regularly. Not to mention, keeping up with the Heroes III Artifact Auction. :-D Don't stay away, we'd all miss you very much. Oh and good luck finding another decent job.

Don't worry. I don't think anybody is going to come close to your post count for a very, very long time. Besides, things change. That's what makes life so interesting. I'm sure you will find another great job and you'll be back posting like a madman in no time.

it's a shame though, I was almost within a thousand of dethroning TT :D nevermind

thanks for the kind words OD and HP, and HP - my redundancy payment takes care of the financial issues, I do connect from home on the weekends already, so that's no biggie, and worry not about the auction

I was a technical specialist, dealing with network faults, and the test centre I worked in got shut down, jobs moved east, so I got a redundancy

actually, excepting the fact I liked my job and I could post a lot, I'm excited to go, and it's a good thing, they pay me about a year and a halfs wages after tax, so it's a pretty good bonus really

Phew, a little les of the anoying aussie

Wel kidding dude.
You will be missed because you are always there. Sometimes helpfull, sometimes ripping on the old TT but most of the time just for smalltalk. That's quite an accomplishment, keeping it up (olmost) every day.
A new job sounds like a new beginning to me. Like you wrote, you were smiling a long the road, and tapping your feet.

Well, good luck on the job and hope to kee reading your posts...

@stefan: You will be sorely missed in your absence. I am truly glad to be able to call you my friend, ;)

I sure hope that your post rate doesn't change in your new job. :D
