Hey all. (became random necro chat lol)

Unread postby Leded » 23 Dec 2007, 16:34

like to say hi folks, i've been having the inkling to start playing human opponents at this dam game :P. i'm not really "new" to it, i've been playin em ever since the first one :D. but i've NEVER played an actual person on em, and don't want to get a hole stomped in me too fast lol.

i like the Necros alot.... although i'm not too happy about what they did to Raise Dead.... or that Dark Energy BS.. erg.... i thought they were impotent enough as it was. i don;t even use Raise Dead anymore lol, i mean if your gonna destroy 20% of the hp on a stack of guys, i guess you better use it on an all dead stack and not hurt the existing ones.... Vladimir used to be my favorite guy to use :(

oh well i ramble about stuff like that at times... i've been told i'm very "passionate" about things that interest me or things i hate LOL.

the lower % hp is great for vampires since they'll re-grow in numbers faster, also for any other creature that has vampirism casted on it

the key to using raise dead, is not to spamm it all over the place, most of the time the enemy focuses fire on your sceleton archers, since their protected anwways you can lower their hp as much you like, they'll die with hundreds at a time in lategame anyways

and when fighting neutrals I prefer to cast it 1 time at the end so most of my sceleton archers are back

ahhh i hadn't really thought of abusing that on vampires :D. i still hate that dark energy thing though, i miss raising my 1000s of skeletons!!! thats been a stable for necros since they were first introduced to the game and they cocked it up :(

((but i really think they need to make a higher level dark magic creature rez like the light magics Resurrection, that acts as Raise Dead does, but with no penalty))

it wasn't there before? and i don't like it there now :P. it limits how much undead you can raise each week, its ok that you can raise different tier creatures now with it, but they cost so much to raise its not worth loosing the ability raise an unlimited amount of skeletons. it also appears that all the necro heroes on your side share the same dark energy pool.... even worse.

Before DE, you could only raise Skeletons and Skeleton Archers.
And limit is good because else the faction would be way too overpowered.
I am back and ready to... ready to... post things.

Heya Leded :) For online matches you could try http://www.toheroes.com/, many players you could ask for a game. Playing is the best way to learn :)

The stickies here have most info you would need but if you have any questions ask away. Unfortunately I'm not much of a necro player myself so I can't help much.
I, for one, am dying to find out what colour they paint Michael's toenails.

i just figured it was like that way to balance alot of the crappy units... stupid zombies for instance... i mean are they good for anything other than cannon fodder? Orsan's ability to make em stronger is all well and good, but its pretty useless if they get pasted before they even get a turn lol

Spectral Dragons are an incredibly weak tier7 unit, i have little experience with the Ghost ones as of yet but i like the Ghost Dragons better so far.

most of the ways you could off set the necro's weaknesses was to just overrun your opponent with superior numbers. ever since they nerfed Raise Dead i haven't used Vladimir at all and he used to be my fav.

maybe if each necromancer in your army used individual energy pools for their raising it would work better.

I don’t know how it’s now, but the dark energy pool is very irritating. It’s always empty when you need it, and it’s very hard to enlarge it. Maybe they can make an equipment to enlarge it? Or an ability that gives you10 dark points for each lvl?

You don't want to just raise the first stack you defeat in the weak. If you have a secondary heroe (and you should) he can help uncover enough fog to give you an idea of what stacks are available for the week. So plan use of your dark energy points accordingly. Try raising vampires and liches. Necromancy is really uberly powerful and needs to be toned down.

Every necro in your kingdom contributes to the dark energy pool according to his level, so hire and level up other necromancers when possible.

it's true that zombies sux at everything exept dieing
but that makes them usefull for boxing my sceleton archers in

it's also true that necro level 7 is very weak compared with the other units, but.... you can have 3 of them each week, sorrow strike is very usefull aswelll

aye Zombies equal "meat wall"... although the Rot Zombies are prolly more affective. i mean they just need to stand next to their targets to affect them. "Standing around!" what zombie troops do best!!! can't beat that job!!!

yeah sorrow strike is nice.... although in previous games the Ghost Dragons mere presence on the field reduced enemy moral lol.

i DO need a new fav undead general any ideas? it woulda been nice with 2 new addons they coulda made some new ones or at the very least had gender specific models for each faction... i mean they all look like guys. i mean its odd for to have a female general and she looks like a dude....

i woulda REALLY loved it if they had character models that looked like each one, but i guess thats asking too much lol.

Just don't raise too many liches. They are costly in DE, and not that useful for that cost. If you can, try to raise a few Lich Masters early (that is, before you can hire them in castle) - they will help to keep your army from losses (they cast Raise Dead so your hero can do something else). You won't need more than 3-4 of them though (even 1 will help greatly), that will be enough in the first weeks. Of course, you'll have to beat casters to get Liches, but sometimes it's worth it.
Another advice, try to avoid raising upgraded creatures. They cost more DE, and you can upgrade them in castle anyway. Also, if you really have to raise some upgraded Zombies (like it's the last day of the week and you still have unspent DE points, and nothing better can be found nearby), raise Rot Zombies - they are cheaper in DE and so you'll get more (can be re-upgraded in the castle later if you need Plague Zombies).

the only thing i have a against the Plague Zombies is that they need to attack to use their ability.... and that really doesn't happen that often lol. even hasted their initiative is average at best. i just run the Rot Zombies out there and get en near some units lol.

well i personally think you get more bang for your buck raising lower level units, i think normal skels only cost like 2 points, and they are cheap to upgrade at your town

1000s of skeleton archers is nice

That they are. I usually try to raise what I can, but perhaps I should go for the lower tiers.

I usually raise only skeletons/zombies/ghosts, with maybe a few vampires. Skeleton archers are particularly useful early on.

I usually use Naadir when playing necropolis, which heroes do others recommend using?

Vampires become godly when you get a good stack of them so I concentrate on vampires primarily and liches secondarily. Also make sure to send troops from captured towns, dwellings, and refuge camps back to a necro camp to be transformed.
