If anything this expansion makes me want to play heroes V again.

However remember that there are worse reveiwers thatn this guy. Nintendo Power is heavily biased and seems to rate games too high or too low,and IGN makes Gamespot look saintly.
Back from the dead? Maybe.

@Omega_Destroyer

I agree, that ignorance is a good way to react, but makeing fun of him still seems better. With this letter sent to him is in someway just, even if it's childish.

Making fun of someone's ineptitude is not necessarily childish - It all depends on how you do it.

Ok. It maybe that wasn't the perfect word for it but I correct myself.

>Makeing fun of somebody is a bit the lack of seriousity<

but wasn't a serious thing he done either.

"and as it was an expansion"

Wait, what? I know I definitely did not buy more than one game. I installed the so-called 'expansion' right onto my computer and started playing. I was under the impression it was a sequel because it didn't require a base game to be played. Was it a stand-alone expansion?

Dumping the peasants and skeletons into the sacrificial alter is a REALLY BAD IDEA. In fact, they can greatly enhance your army, expecially when playing on Heroic. Instead, right after you get the Centaurs, before anything else, pick up the peasants, then the skeletons, then take out the nearby graveyard. Then go due west and pick up a wonderful blood necklace that gives +1 damage. Now in conjuction with your battle frenzy, your lowly skeletons and peasants do 3 damage each! I suggest making a beeline up the road to rescue the goblins before the end of the first week, picking up the stables on the way up. Then back down to the stables, which should be day 1 of the second week, and go whereever you want from there. There is no stack on the board that you cannot easily defeat. I suggest heading east, and pick up the good artifacts in that direction. The zealots are no problem, just take them, and head through the portal for good stuff.

When attacking armies with casters and range strikers, if you can't defeat them on autoplay without losing centaurs, then I just leave my centaurs out of the battle. So what if they take out a hundred goblins, skeletons, or peasants? There are plenty of them. I finished this level in under a month, and could have finished it quite a bit sooner if had not stopped to pick up all of the goodies to the east and north. At the end, I still had about 400 skeletons and 300 peasants left. This is an extremely easy map even on heroic if played in this manner.

I would also add that leadership is ultra-important on this map because you'll be using stacks of 3 alignments (pezzie, skele and orcs) all the time

this is a fun map. and as usual great guide, maltz :)

as a sidenote, u can get to lvl 24 even on normal (though u will probably hit it after siege battle). all the skills mentioned worked like a charm. tried to get Preparation too, but at lvl 24 best i could get was Snatch >.

just checked: I finnished this map at lvl 26 (before the siege; 3.0 heroic), which is enough to get the ultimate (but I picked some wrong skills). so u may as well try for it

Indeed it seems the cutscenes and in game voiceovers are a big upgrade from the previous scenarios. I still miss the detailed storytime quest texts and rendered cutscenes from the 3DO era, though :(

I chose war machines for my final skill (luck being the obligatory fourth.) In my first turn of the siege I annihilated the front gate allowing my cyclops in to plow down their troops within just a few short turns it was all over.

I wish I was an orc... Only if it was windy, and if I was in the front line of course.
