H5 (TotE) Armageddon defence?

Unread postby Sarvi » 27 Nov 2007, 01:41

Is there an item or ability that gives total defence against the Armageddon spell?
Encountered an Academy hero in the multiplayer game "Allies" for TotE who kept casting Armageddon without any of his army sustaining any damage....

Maybe he just had all his units immune to Armageddon? Obsidian Gargoyles are immune (unless hit by a central "falling rock"), and Magnetic Golems are even healed by Destructive magic, Armageddon included.

No, he had Gremlins, Rakshasa, Titans, and Djinns as well. Not even a single Gremlin was destroyed by his Armageddon spell....
I checked the artifacts list, and there are no artifacts that could do this.

What about mini-artifacts?

edit:

Magic Protection
» Effect: Reduces spells damage.
» Formula: see table. The value is
capped to 85%.

Throw in a skill that adds 15% protection against destructive....

Note that the formula for adding magic protections actually works like:
1-P = (1-P1)(1-P2) [or P = P1+P2-P1*P2]

and not (P1+P2 as could be expected). So adding a 85% protection and a 15% protection gives a total of 87% protection.

Magic resistances are added though: R = R1+R2

So what's your guess as to how a player gained immunity from Armageddon?

Resistance abilities aren't nearly as common as Protection, and even 85% protection plus 50% protection (from the Ice Shield, for example,) only comes to 92%.

That would still let through a fair bit of damage.

With protection, don't forget Fire Resistance (Light Magic): 50% protection from fire. Even if you can't reach 100%, you can get damn close.

Best is of course to use only fire immune creatures in your army. Fortress has a lot of them.

With Resistance, play with Marbas, who has additional magic resistance as specialty:
- Boots of Magical Defense (10%)
- Armor of the Forgotten Hero (20%)
- Marbas level 20 (25% = 5%+Level*1%)
- Have Silver Unicorns in your army (30%)
- Luck/Magic Resistance (15%)
Total: 100%

And the fact that there is no easy absolute way is a good thing. ;)
