Actually, Any value that is a defined constant has infinite precision. This is to allow the various rules for significant figures to come into play.
Any problem involving unit conversion is an example of this. For example:
Something is measured to be 100.1 feet in length. How many inches is this?
Obviously, it is 12 * 100.1 = 1201.2
By rules of significant digits, the answer would be rounded to 1200, if you said the 12 (obtained from the definition 12 inches = 1 foot) only had 2 significant digits.
Now, if you have to approximate a defined constant (such as the above mentioned pi ~ 3.14), the approximation now limits the precision of calculations.
Of course, the digits of pi, to any length, are only an approximation since it is an irrational number - transcendental even

That's the answer I was looking for when I set this question, more or less the same example, too. I'm...very surprised Corribus didn't get it I'm not sure how to make the question clearer though; it seems pretty clear to me.
