The Captain Taylor wasn't so big hit as I hoped, so I fluently switched back and perceived more from GiTS.. ;)

..alternative reality.

That photo somewhat reminding me typical user of RT.

@Stefan
From the same note, GiTS is classic, this is from where the Matrix was inspired. Though I don't like a Matrix much, is somewhat like a poor akin to the GiST. B-)

Finally saw Stardust (my first free week-end since the movie came to Belgium). I totally second arturchix on the above. Also, the witches' mansion SO reminded me of the H5 Necro (not the castle itself, but the building would have fit perfectly in the town).

Although there wasn't much publicity around this movie, it proved to be a must see. I only hope The Golden Compass won't turn out to be the opposite: catchy trailers, but the movie a bluff (like it happened with Narnia)

A trailer can be quite misleading. Apparently though it's also made after a book. Has anyone read it maybe?

His Dark Materials is a marvelous trilogy of books and I'm very excited about the upcoming movie.

Seen the new Halloween movie yesterday. Very gory and disturbing and much better than all of the previous ones.

Yeah. My friends, and I, went to see it on the opening Saturday (in the US), and we all thought it was great.

BTW, I today finished the Stardust novel which I find a bit...weird, not to say more. Though the events in the movie have been changed, IMO it's clearly better than the novel. Great work of Matthew Vaughn who directed only his 2nd film.

I think The Golden Compass will turn out as something as the Chronicles of Narnia.

fair enough, I just don't get enough time to watch movies ;) and I have to say that's off the radar, I'm a little mainstream in that way

so today I'm gonna re-watch the first two Pirates movies, and tomorrow will be At Worlds End .... looking forward to it a lot, Cap'n Jack Sparrow has to be one of the very best characters going around

PotC would have been a great entertaining trillogy, if they wouldn't have:

- overdone it in the 2nd & 3rd movie (the action, the forced jokes)
- fired two of the writers of the 1st movie, which might be the cause of the plot holes, the loss of charm and - worst of all - some charaters having a sudden change of personality (Elizabeth from the end of DMC & AWE is an unrealistic development of the same character from TCOTBP for example)
- leave the end of AWE somehow open - not to mention few side plots either unnecessary introduced, or left unsolved. It's like they want to leave a door open for milking more money from a 4th, maybe also a 5th movie... but they don't even do it well.

I definately noted the change you mentioned the first time I saw DMC, that's one of the reasons I wanna re-watch it before the AWE, just to get it all worked out in my mind

I saw Beowulf, not bad. There is not much of a story - actually the original story has been 'enriched' on the assumption that Beowulf did not tell the whole truth - and the plot moves rather slowly but there are some amazing action scenes and visuals. There were imperfections of course with the eyes and lips but the result is impressive, especially the scene with the dragon :D That alone was worth it!

Cool. I've been wanting to go see Beowulf. I figured they would screw up the story... most movies do. Glad to hear it's at least worth looking at.

I had looked it up sometime ago and the synopsis is that a hero comes to save the kingdom from the evil monster Grendel and afterwards his mother that wants revenge. A typical brave hero that wins that day.
In the movie the plot is basically the same, it just complicates things a bit after Grendel's death and gives some depth to the characters.

Btw considering that in the movie Grendel's mother is Angelina Jolie you can bet that she does not look monstrous ;) Good cast for an animated movie, it is becoming the norm lately.
