I recently acquired the special edition of this game @ Target for like 7 bucks. I haven't played it yet, but it looks AWESOME. Any JE love here?

I had only tried it for a few minutes and liked it but I'll be able to tell more when I get it. Other priorities for now.
I, for one, am dying to find out what colour they paint Michael's toenails.

Maybe I should have made a topic axin' what everyone's currently playin'? I still can't believe I got this game(the Special Edition too) for only $7.50 @ Target...TARGET of all places! Hahahahaha! Bull's eye-wearing FOOLS! HAHAHAHAHA! Ahem!...I'm currently trying to achieve a balance between playin' Jade Empire SE, IWD: Heart of Winter, and Neverwinter Nights: Diamond. It ALMOST sucks. :devious: Almost.

Well how about a mini-review?

I had to go through several reviews to find out that the combat is action based.

The dialogue appears to be shallow for evil characters.

Still I'm heading to target to see if I can snap up a good clearance deal. :hail:

Count me in as an rpg liker.

Hmmm...let me play through a chapter or two and I'll put up a mini-review then...sounds like a good idea. I'm still pretty pumped @ finding this game for 7.50...I couldn't believe it, bought it, then I saw what other stores were offering it for...what a bargain man...phew...I'll be pattin' myself on the back for awhile for that one...because what I've played so far seems very promising.

My thoughts on Jade Empire:SE so far -

Concept: An rpg with an oriental setting utilizing unarmed combat(many styles) as well as weapons. 9.5

Graphics: Rather impressive, good character designs(great enemy character designs), "cut-scenes" are particularly pretty, but a little opaque looking. 8.0

Sound: An ambient oriental music that blends in excellently with the lush backgrounds and draws you in while leaving you alone. 9.0

Playability: I can see myself easily picking this up again to play this game through as a different character and/or using the opposing play style that I am now(open palm as opposed to closed fist).

Entertainment: An exceptional blend of action,rpg,story-telling, and broad adventure.

Replay Value: Very High

Hope this helps... :gong:

I got it when it first came out, beat it, and never touched it again. I found the focus concept (Mana for weapons? Lame.) to be worthless and the last boss fight was hella-lame.
And the chickens. Those damn chickens.

So i finally started playing... it's ok for a console game (and it's about time using weapons cost you some energy, being able to swing a sword forever was always unrealistic).

But is it just me or are they trying to pull a Kreia with Master Li (adept of the Closed Fist anyone)?

If they are it seems like it won't work, as it seems that no matter what Smiling Mountain (nice name) says the dialog for closed fist points makes you more evil then "natural selection"-ist...
Now Kreia actually had you doubting that helping people made the universe and even their lives better in any way, but sending them to their deaths just to see if "the chosen one" is up to par is definably not doing any good...

Just started. Enjoying it so far, I like the setting and the over-the-topness. Every game has it's flaws, this one has me more hooked than Kotor II which I gave up on shortly after picking up the handmaiden.

Completed this game both OP and CF style. One ki oriented character and one mind oriented one (the latter being somewhat a waste of points).

Definately had a lot of fun with it; although combat got a little repetitive after a while. Changing styles is a nice concept in theory, but in practise you'll be best off investing only in one of each types; and you'll probably stick to 1 or 2 styles per type of enemy.

Story was very nicely thought out imo, with enough twists to keep my interest.

Minor tips in white:
- not investing in the 2 starting weapon styles will pay off later
- support styles are pretty much useless, arguably with the exception of the energy draining style

I've heard good things about it, unfortunately college has kind of prevented me from trying new games. *grumbles about homework*

Chiming back in to say I'm really having fun with this game.

I think I like games better when I don't read up on them too much beforehand.

The combat system promises much but doesn't really deliver. Nevertheless the whole game is so full of action and over the top that I don't mind. The story moves on at a good clip and I'm a sucker for FMV.

There's plenty of dialogue choices though it doesn't really appear to matter what you pick it still feels better than elder scrolls.

I thought I was nearly done getting to the Imperial City but there appears to be much more to happen.

The combat system is too much console brawler, but it's fine once you get the hang of it... and the chinese setting is very refreshing...

As for the first 2 styles, Legendary Strike has served me well so far... but i only finished act 1.
