Haha okay. But Norwegian people are a rarity here compared to Swedes ;)
Depending on the quality of the wine you can get some good prices here.
A ten year old could buy a bottle with his lunch money (considering he wasn't too young) ;)

Hang on; I'm aware that younger people get to buy alcohol for their parents etc... but you still have prohibition against minors drinking it, right? What's the legal drinking age down there?

I think they just raised it. I think it's 16 now. Used to be 15. Same as sex :) You can always keep track that way..

You're kidding. Teens are allowed to buy alcohol for their parents over there? That's a joke if I've ever heard one.
And the chickens. Those damn chickens.

Not really no. It's not a problem. Considering we're one the most alchoholic countries in the world I think they should raise the bar a bit but hey, I'm not a politician.
So laugh away OD ;)

No, seriously, most ten-year-olds don't drink because they find the taste of beer/wine etc. quite distasteful. But being able to send them to the shop for groceries and a can of Tuborg is very convenient. Here in Norway, however, we traditionally have such a bad drinking culture that the very mention of alcohol in the hands of children is out of the question.

Well, they can - by getting someone older to buy it for them. But at least not legally. So the politicians have some back cover.

Yeah, but that's the way to go here too if you are planning on drinking it yourself. It's kinda like the same issue of whether children should be able to buy cigarettes for their parents..

Sure. But at least there's some logic to the law there. Don't sell beer to 16 year olds, 'cause they are planning on drinking it themselves, but sell to 10 year olds, 'cause they're only on a mission from home.

Hehe yeah...so legalize it for 10 years olds and prohibit purchasing alcohol to anyone in between that magic age and the age of 16 :D

They do the same in Sweden and so they come running here to get wasted...and then after coming here a lot they think "Heeey, this place isn't too bad" and then they settle here and then suddenly, one third of my customers are Swedish! 8|
Isn't it something like norwegians going to Sweden, swedes go to Denmark, danes go to germany, for their booze?

that seems crazy, it's 18 here, for whatever reason

and an average bottle of wine (decent quality, but nothing too flash) would be about AUD$15 or so

They come here. But they never buy anything. And by that I mean anything. They bring their camper vans with 'em, and their own food. Cheap little bastards... (any Germans out there? No?)
