Well, if you can't smile at 'em, at least you can be efficient and give them what they want quickly, right? That way, you get them out of your sight quicker too...

I am efficient. In fact, I'm the most efficient employee there :proud: So they won't like me but at least my line moved faster and they got to leave the store quicker :D That's good actually cause it's always so damn hot in there..

Actually, my experience is that customers care more about efficiency in general... They're only interested in quality attention and advice if they have no idea what they want and no particular deadline as to when they need it.

@Kalah: So very true...even though a smiling helper is a plus.

I don't care how much quality there is in the service, if Mr.Helper looks like he wants to throw himself out the nearest window. :)

A few years ago, I read that Japanese firms were sending their employees to "smiling-classes", to learn how to smile to customers. Statistics showed the companies could increase their revenue by 50% thanks to increased influx of western customers. We like people who are nice, Japanese have a culture of not showing expression.

I see...:)

The Japanese smile with their eyes...or so I've read.
To paraphase what one Japanese man said once:

So, that could be part of it. :)

There's a guy at work. He's so outgoing and positive and he's by far the best salesman I've ever met.
We have these copies of a lame-a$$ old movie called American Perfect. They cost next to nothing and we decided to sell all 15 to get rid of them.
Then our distribution decides to send us 20 more! We sell them. Then we get 30 more! Then we sell 'em and got only 20 more this time. But he's the guy who can sell all of those because he's that good. His attitude is perfect :)

At one time my boss got so desperate she bought me one plus one for herself. I haven't even unwrapped it... :disagree:
We might as well just throw 'em after the customers..."Take it! Just take it for goodness sake! I beg of you!"

Actually once a year we have to set five goals. This year we couldn't think of a fifth goal so we decided it should be improving our sales of lollypops  It's was so stupid...they cost nothing as well so we thought about throwing them after the customers too... :D
