I would say the evidence regarding the matter of goblins = (not) orks is pretty inconclusive in Tolkien's legendarium. Even if they are merely an offshoot of orks, they would still be a race unto themselves to some extent, with their own peculiarities (at least physical, if not mental).ThunderTitan wrote:not in Middle-Earth...

@Ohma
don't worry, you'll get used to it.
Hello:
------------------------------------
In The Lord of the Rings, Orc is used predominantly, and goblin mostly in the Hobbits' speech. The second volume of the novel, The Two Towers, contains passages where the terms are used to describe Saruman's Uruk-hai:
There were four goblin-soldiers of greater stature, swart, slant-eyed, with thick legs and large hands. They were armed with short broad-bladed swords, not with the curved scimitars usual with Orcs: and they had bows of yew, in length and shape like the bows of Men.<<<

I like the H5 Mauler, he is that kinda orc that almost completely goes for the offensive, brute force as most of the rest of his redish tier friends.
I like its design and weapon of schoice, though he would be cooler with a steel spiked club
Though, modern orcs have lost their pigness as they are supposed to strike an resemblance with. They still fit with their looks.
See it the evolutionary way.
Primates ---> Humans
Porks, Pigs ---> Orcs
And then it starts to make sense, at least for me why more and more modern orcs aint looking like pigs anymore.

Although I liked the design and the overall usefulness of the Heroes II Orcs, my choice is the upgraded and greenskin version from Heroes III, that is Orc Chieftain. Not the best shooter of its level but I like the character and attitude of the Orc Chieftain. It looks like a green viking warrior on a mission to slay some travelling merchants and monks.

Don't worry if things are going badly today. They will be much worse tomorrow.
I mst say that the first time I played with the orcs in H5 I was shocked to see the slayer standing on 1 tile only. It was so funny looking at this huge fat unit and then seeing it on the battlrfield, abit taller then the rerst but still puny.
offtopic:
I don't have a choice. I really don't like any of them
