Heroes, Skills and Abilities, Oh My!

Unread postby Angelspit » 12 Feb 2006, 13:40

The Heroes V section received an extensive update, with fresh information about each town's hero, skills and abilities. You can finally find out how the Dungeon Warlock managed to become such a chick magnet. Igoraki redesigned the navigation in each faction page, while I moved a couple of pages around and archived others.

"Expert Sorcery" has the same description of "Expert Summoning Magic".

Excellent work! :D This is definately the best innovation I´ve seen so far. And now it´s sealed: I´m addicted to this game (just like in HoMM III)! :D
I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones.

I like the limited specialties-my chance of buying this just increased to

about 20%. But they kept the Learning skill without any changes from H3?

I still think that Logistics continues to be overpowered. 30% is a LOT. But then again, it looks like the did away with Pathfinding, so maybe it won't be that bad.

Perhaps the "super" abilities will require you to take a normally weaker skill. For example, one of the "Ultimate" skills (the one for academy) requires a learning-related ability to obtain. (Actually, it needs 5 specific secondary skills, including artificer, which is why it is academy only)

This makes for an interesting choice- take better secondary skills, or get the super abilities- you can't do both.

I need to check the other Ultimate skills to see if they are simialr to this one.

I just checked. First, they are the "Absolute" abilities, not the "Ultimate" ones (which are secondary skills).

Anyway, the needed secondary skills to learn the absolutes are:

Academy:Abs. Wizardry: Artificer, Sorcery, Learning, Offence, Summoning
Dungeon:Abs. Chains: Invocation, War Machines, Luck, Learning, Logisitcs
Haven:Abs. Charge: Training, Light, Logistics, Luck, Learning
Inferno:Abs. Gating: Gating, Logistics, Luck, Offence, Light
Necropolis:Abs. Fear: Necromancy, Dark, Offence, Logisitics, Learning
Sylvan:Abs. Luck: Avenger, Luck, Defence, Offence, Logistics

So, it appears each has one or two of the "weaker" secondary skills as a requirement. Note that if you want one of those skills, you only have one secondary skill available for free choice. Some of these skills seem quite powerful, however. (the inferno one, where gating becomes instantaneous seems VERY powerful.

Well I personally still finds the Absolute Luck ability for Sylvan way to powerfull, especially when you consider the reqiured skills as they a quite powerfull themselves: Avenger, Luck, Defence, Offence, Logistics.

Just imagine to deal double damage with everey single attack combined with Offence and the Elven Luck which boosts the damage 125%!!! Insane! No Army would be able to stop you.

Just take the Dragons. Let's say you got 12, then they will damage as if they were 27 (offence is not included here)!!!

It is a way to powerfull ability!
