perfect army choice for player versus player fight

Yes I know it all depends against who you are, and what momen of the game you speak of, but let just say that your in a 8 players map free for all, and you don t know who will be your next oponent, you have max mage guild and one month worth of creature growth.

I would like to know what would be everybody s choice concerning alternative upgrades and why.

The question is not really applicable. It depends on the construction of your hero, your artifacts and your concrete aim because you can regrade all units and switch between upgrades.
A general doesn't make much sense to me.

Alright, so no atefacts, only one skill that you choose, and the point of this message is to get what kind of diferent focuses you can get with one army like a defensive dunjeon to let hero cast.
My aim is to get a better grasp at what is or isn t doable as strategies with the armies, and what would be the best troop choice to achive this.
I thought this forum could help that's all.

I think, you see this the wrong way.
Never forget, that you can REGRADE. So that means you don't have to make a binding choice for the full game.
Easy example: It looks to me like the Stalker will be a very good unit for creeping - better than the Assassin -, but the Assassin should be better in a full out battle, since he'll poison right away by shooting which will count against the higher level creatures - except of course against a Necro. :)
