I'm baaaaaaaaaaack... and in need of patching

Unread postby Jay » 08 Oct 2007, 14:19

Aight, so whoever said it was a bad disc was right. Friend of mine came out to work on my 'puter and brought his uncrappy discs and it loads just fine now... so in a way I stuck to my guns. Never shelled out another dime :D

However, now I have to download the patches again and 1.04 from this site keeps telling me the file's corrupted. Such being the case (and also that I'm on dial up and don't want to spend an entire day uploading more than one), can someone recommend a good site where I can get 1.04, and thusly install the first three without downloading 1.1 first? It's not a compatability issue, it's the right version...

It might have something to do with the fact that the 1.0 version that I have umm, I dunno, doesn't have an auto-updater? That a good enough reason or would you like to roll your eyes at me some more?

Seriously, I've tried two sites (including this one) and they both say the same thing after more than two hours of downloading, that the exe file is corrupted. I mean, am I going to have to download 1.01 in order to get the auto updater that'll pick the right version of 1.04? Or would someone with something useful to contribute like to help a brother out?

Make sure you have the right version of the patch (US special, EU collector, international, etc.), update to 1.(0)1 and run the auto-update.

Thankyou. If I have to download 1.01 first to get the auto-updater for compatible later versions, so be it. All I needed to know.

Yes, but make sure you get the correct version of 1.1. Once it is installed, the auto-updater will find the correct files.

This is the ubisoft patch page:

http://patches.ubi.com/heroes_might_magic_5/

If it's corrupted from there something is wrong on your end.

Got 1.1 loaded and the auto updater's installed. Thanks!

Strange though that the first three on the list would download about 10 MB worth and then ask if I wanted to run the program even though its source file couldn't be identified - same thing that happened with 1.(0)4. The Gamershell patch downloaded just fine though, guess 'cuz it was compressed in a zip file that had to be opened after downloading instead of going straight into my HV program files? Whatever the case, it worked and all is righteous. :)

One more quick question and then I promise I'll let this thread die. Now that everything through 1.(0)5 is installed, anyone know if that mod turning gargoyles into stone imps will work with the upgrades past 1.3? God I hate the new gargoyles...
