These shortcuts don't work in the Post a reply text box though, you have to type them in Word or a messenger window and copy-paste them.

Ctrl + ' + o doesn't work for me. But I have a table of ASCII characters which was in my Computer Science textbook. I just read across and down for the correct code. Each code must have four numbers, so if there isn't four numbers add zeros before the code. Be sure to hold down the Alt Key and use the Number Keypad. For example, for the é character, hold the Alt Key while typing in 0233 on the Number Keypad.

ó = Alt + 0243
ñ = Alt + 0241
ä = Alt + 0228
ç = Alt + 0231
æ = Alt + 0230
¼ = Alt + 0188
½ = Alt + 0189
¾ = Alt + 0190

There is also an ASCII Cheat Sheet here … although it doesn't give specific instructions about holding the Alt Key, or having four digits in the code, or using the Number Keypad.

If you're running a Windows OS, you can also find some keystrokes via the Character Map. For example, I'm running Win 2000 and it's found in the Start Menu under Programs>Accessories>System Tools.
