Back 'on topic' as it were...
asandir wrote: but seriously .... it can be quite enjoyable, with some ordinary after-effects .... I've had the pleasure of being passed out twice, spewing numerous times, but I still enjoy a drink .... not so much for the getting drunk anymore, maybe just tipsy for me :)
I enjoy alcohol from time to time. I don't drink often, which is one reason that if I DO have more than a couple of drinks, I get very drunk. One beer after a hard day at work is a lovely way to relax and not worry about things. A drink or two at a party makes all the jokes just SEEM funnier. The problem with alcohol, or most drugs, is that as the effects kick in, your judgment is impaired. No one will ever do anything while drunk that they didn't WANT to do when they were sober.

Example: Me wanting to kiss strangers when I'm drunk. I enjoy the thrill of 'playing with' new people. But when I'm sober, I know it's probably not a good idea to do it.

However, I wouldn't get in a bar fight. You always hear about men getting into fist fights 'because they were drunk'. Well, they would not have taken that first 'swing' if they were not the type to get violent when they were sober. They just use the alcohol as an excuse.

Well, when we played, he was like... "I dunno this...Haven't played chess for ages." But as I studied his moves. He was preparing for an attack routine! And his moves are very fine.

Oh Scarlet my dear... (i always get a GwTW moment when i write your name), you misunderstand, they threw the first punch because they were drunk enough to think they'd win.

LOL! That's so True!

There's an old song about getting drunk and thinking that you're Superman... 10 feet tall and bullet proof. And those 'Beer Goggles' work both ways. While the more you drink, the better you think the member of the opposite sex look... the sexier the drinker thinks him/herself to be also. And we all know that some sloppy, falling down drunk (male or female) is just what we ALL want to look like or take home.

It all goes back to "Impaired Judgment". Can be fun. Can be dangerous. The trick is to know when to STOP and just be happily buzzed. One can always Pretend to be drunker than they actually are, have fun and not get into to much trouble. :D

We'll see about that :) I play on and off so a year or two pass before I play again. Most people are not into chess nowadays but then again I got to learn it by pure chance :)
