Which heroes do you usually hire and for which towns?

Unread postby Elwin » 01 Aug 2007, 21:12

I use nature 90% of the time (druids + summon mantis = pawned) and I usually hire Elwin and Shaera. If they do not appear in the tavern I campaign edit it so that I could use them....

So which other heroes do you usually hire? I know Soymr is a good one.

In most cases I use two heroes in each army I have. They will be from my allignment in order to avoid morale penalty.

It will typical be one might and one magic hero. The magic hero will get some Combat though for survival. When playing Haven, the might hero will also get basic Life magic for healing.

Me to, I usually hire the two best looking female heroes. Ok a bit of a sexist, but if I am going to stare a pictures all day, I might as well enjoy the view. :devious:

And here I thought that I was the only one that shallow :)

Honestly though I do end up picking my heroes based on:
1. Were they an old favorite?
2. Do they have a cool bio?
3. Do they look cool?

As others have said I will often get 2 heroes .. one might & one magic. Either way both heroes will have at least enough combat to get by & not get gacked the first turn of combat.

I very rarely read the bios, but I have to admit I tend to prefer the better looking women. However, some of my favourites got quite unpleasant icons in the change from H3 to H4.

One Might(Two, if Stronghold), One Magic. One Male, One Female.

I use all the towns pretty equally. Even the Haven, which I like the least.

favorite town and hero

Unread postby saugeen » 05 Aug 2007, 20:23

If there is a choice, I usually pick a Tower Town and Solymr. Sometimes I'd pick Inferno and a hero that already comes with a3rd or 4th level spell. I Like necropolis too.

I too almost always use heroes that are aligned with whichever town type I begin with. And if I pick up new towns along the way, I hire heroes that match the alignment.

I have my favorite heroes for each alignment though.

For Nature (which is my preferred alignment) I obviously like:

Enathrae … Image … and Aeris … Image

Agraynel … Image … and Elleshar … Image

Snowjay … Image and Saleena … Image (they look like sisters, don't they?)

Ah ... that reminds me.

The main heroes that I hire will be aligned with the town that I'm playing. However I'll happily pick up any character that knows Estates or anything that helps them to be a good secondary character.

In H1 or H2: I hire Knights/Barbs exclusively no matter what town I started with, except Necro town.

H3 - Any hero of the town alignment is fine

H4- don't own the game, don't plan to.

druids can be awesome, but I also like death magic heroes, if you can get hold of nature magic (or death for the druid) it's game over .... sure it's cheap and well known, but demonologist rock!

Simple economics really;
Time/money spent on bad/mediocre games is better spent on excellent/awesome games.

Besides I still have only barely started the H3:SoD campaigns and have barely touched the stand alone maps.
