When I installed mine (I assume it's an internal), I just had to swap the old one out and the new one in. That was about it.

Other than setting the new device to Slave, I can't think of anything else. That, and getting all the necessary cables if you want to keep both devices.

not necessarily true, depends on whether the cables are connected to anything else, like a HD or something, if so then HD should be master with jumpers on HD set accordingly, and burner set to slave with jumper set accordingly.

if it's the only device on the chain then go for master, but be sure that the jumper is set for master!

Well i have room for one more on both the HDD and the CD-ROM cable...

The slave is the middle one, right? The DVD Writer doesn't have it marked, but that's how the CD driver has them.

So it's solved I guess. Well, TT as last resort, on each DVD or HDD is description how to configure the jumpers.

PS having two DVDs on one cable usually decrease theirs performance. The one which you are planning to use more should be a master to amass electrical powers and sending them throught you computer in your name, that one will be waiting for your orders on the end of the cable.

Well cd's are still more common, so it's all fine.

And why bother with instructions on a piece of paper when i have a nice forum in which to ask?

That must be it. If not, he'll be having more 3 kiddos until the end of the year.

nope, it's not, but since I'm mostly here when at work it's pretty academic really :D

and TT, I suggest go HDD + DVD-Burner (HDD master and DVD slave) then CD-ROM as it is, copy the jumper from the pic on the HDD or CD-ROM, should be the same, if it doesn't work, change it

Aahhh! At last! Brazil has gotten a gold medal on the pools! :D USA, as usual , are ahead with a dozen of gold medals, me thinks.

So, who is watching Pan-American games lately, in Rio? :)

Looked more closely and it did have marked the things, it was just small and on the side farthest to the actual jumper.
