Leprechaun opinion...

If you played Heroes IV as nature you would often summon leprechauns or come across leprechaun dwellings. How do you rate these little green men?

I'd rate them about as useful as a poopie-flavored lollipop. :D

Leprechauns are actually pretty useful early on because of their fortune spell. It can make a big difference in early battles.

Lerprechauns are superb creatures. Not that you bring them along with you, you summon them in battle. Their single Fortune cast can give you some serious advantages while lacking nothing in the ability to absorb retaliation. Summon Leprechaun is a very powerful level 1 spell, and it gives you lots of tactical choices.

I voted for "Um...they're not very good." I don't normally play as Nature, so my dealings with Leprechauns are limited to tedious battles against the wandering stacks of them. I don't trust Quick Combat not to lose any of my troops. But, no, I'm not bitter or anything. ;)

Voted average. They are an excelent summon, but Id never consider buying them.Later they become not so useful, since you have much better summons and mass fortune.

Pretty good. While Summon Leprechaun is great spell, Leprechauns themselves suffer from the curse of all L1s, which is that their usefulness wanes as the game goes on.
Far too many people speak their minds without first verifying the quality of their source material.

The spell "Summon Leprechaun" doesn't though.

If you are going to bring an army of leprechauns everywhere you go, you will slow the army down too much. So I guess the best way is (like Banedon) to keep a summon leprechaun spell handy.

Leprechauns are just plain bad at the late stage. Don't need to summon leprechauns when you already have mass fortune. In the beginning though, they are really useful.

It's true that they are not very good at the end, but they can steal retaliation (although they are also not very good at it). :)

I voted middle of the road. They're only useful as a summoned creature to impart fortune on one of your more important stacks. Plus they can use up an enemy's retaliation. Viewing them as stand alone creatures they're not good.

I disagree. Later in the game you may find yourself training a low level hero - a hero who is sufficiently unskilled at Nature Magic that he / she cannot cast Mass Fortune. Under those situations, Summon Leprechaun sure comes in handy.

First, Mass Fortune is a level 3 spell, while summon leprechaun is level one. That means your combat hero, your tactician, anyone can cast it.

Second, it's 2 in 1. You get a fodder (blocking enemy troops) and a fortune spell on one of your troops (and in most cases only 1 or 2 of your troops need it anyways). While Mass Fortune only gives you fortune on your troops, but won't block the LoS of that stupid enemy chaos caster.

Third, it's not even sure you'll get that Mass Fortune spell.

Try to be more objective csarmi :) Surely Mass Fortune is more powerful than Summon Leprechaun?

I like these litle ones just for luck!
I like play only with heroes(but not only in this case) and in first round i summon satyrs for mirth and second round lepreuchants! The reason it's that they can take retaliation but more important it's that block enemy shooter one turn!
