@Ceres: :D

Well, I speak it rather well, with little to no accent, considering it's actually my second language. :)

Second language? What supposed to be the first?

Rock vs. Rap war
There's such a thing? Hmm, maybe in other parts of the world. Around here it's Rock vs. *yuck*Manele (I think it's been talked about in some older music thread around the Campfire). In fact, there are some people who like both Rock and Rap.

I guess it's an example of how people sometimes stick together against a common 'enemy'. :)

Yeah, and manele is winning by a mile. A huge shame on this country.

@Vel: What's manele?

@tLD: It happens. :)

I'd like to make one thing clear before I keep talking about the Rock vs. Rap thing. I only dislike the music, not the people. Heck, I've listened to one or two rap songs...but they have to grab my attention somehow. :)

I say this because I know people on both sides who HATE those from the "other side". It's kind of stupid IMO. It's just music...yeesh. I have an acquiantance who goes so far as to say, "I wish all rappers (the music AND those who listen to it) would just die."

Now that's just wrong. :disagree:

@Panda: English. ;)
I was born and raised in the US...came over to Puerto Rico at the age of 12 and both of my parents are Puerto Rican.

Have no idea what is Patak, Kalah's crypts are too hard for me. But I would know what is Páťák. :devious:

Manele...that sounds very weird. ;|

So, it's basically the fusion of all the negative aspects of other genres? :devious:

@Pol: What's Páťák then? :)

Our park and plaza here is awful, coz nobody goes there. And if I do, people would say, wth is that girl doing in there! I think the park becomes populated only during the evening where there are group of people that chill out there. They drink, smoke and chat. And about the gym, umm... I really don't go to the gym coz I can't think of anything to do there. And about the beaches, its way too far from our place. We only got lakes here, which is full of fishermen! :)
seven lakes, so I hear .... and about 207,000 people .... and you can't find a man there? .... that's sucky, come to australia, here in perth we have maybe 1.5 million or so, and I guarantee the pubs and clubs don't have naked women in them (unless you go specifically to those sorts of clubs), though they can be wearing pretty skimpy gear, especially on a hot summers night .... :)

started reading up on the Philippines ... now I know there are about 89 million people living there, and about 30 million of those people earn less than $2 a day??!?!! what's up with that Ceres? :) 81% roman catholic .... I know feel I know a lot more about where you are from, yet the cultural references you made I don't quite get .... can you describe it a little for me? I ask mostly cause you referred to the "western ways" and that they do not go with what you know .... :)

anyway onto rock and rap, I like both, but not all aspects of both, I like Eminem, some 50cent, some Snoop etc, but most of it I am not keen on, for rock I like most, but not all

a random thought .... here at the random thoughts, we are a paltry 3 posts behind that previously most elusive of all threads, the foreign language affair, your days are numbered indeed my friend!

300 pages, here we come, is that a record? On the older boards as well?

@stefan
Yerr... yeah I think your research is correct. I am surprised, you went that far. And about our country, hmm... Yep! We are a third world country, not that rich and developed.

The main problem here is poverty. And you can see them around, everyday. In the US highschool graduates that are working could earn 10$ a day or more. While me, I am a college graduate, got some MA units, but meh, my salary is only 6$. :sad:

About the 'western ways' that I am saying, its about liberation vs conservatism. I think, most people here in our country are liberated, most that I know, though some still preserve conservatism like my family.

Some things that you suggested me like for example: throwing up a party without any reasonable occasion, has a conflict with the culture that we practice at home, or we could also it my social environment.

If I do that, but I think I cannot, my parents would definitely disagree, and because I respect them, I will also respect their decisions. And besides, if the party would be still allowed, maybe coz they pitied me, our neighborhood and/or community will definitely start gossiping about us. And you know gossips, it leads to misunderstanding and so on and so forth. Yes, it is just a small problem, but eventually it got bigger and bigger because of stupidity.

Sometimes, I really hate culture. I despise my Sociology class before. Because for me its all lies. It depends on what the person wanted, on how he or she view the things around. But I still, must admit that culture is a part of our lives. And it will stay there, always. And it should be given emphasis too.

And about me, looking for a men? I must admit, I am not interested to do so. I feel bored, honestly. Though there are some other things that affects my decision e.g. culture, work, feelings, priorities, thoughts etc.

I really thank you guys and gals for suggesting me what to do. Don't worry, if time would permit me, I will try that out!

And oh, my nose is bleeding! :S

Be careful when doing straight up comparisons on salary between different countries, 6$ in one place might assure one a way better life then 10$ somewhere else.

Never took sociology, did you?
