That's the right thought. Although some people rather seem to enjoy suffering.

Glad you at least can control it and think rationally. I know people who will let themselves be hurt without even knowing who they want to be with and when he/she goes away/is dishonest/betrays their trust they are wrecked. Hurtful yes but it's not as if they knew each other for more than a few weeks to allow themselves to feel bonded...

It should be stuffed into the depths of whatever abyss you fancy stuffing it into and forgotten without further thought.

Same shit with respect, you can respect someone but it dosent mean you have to like them. Its respect of they you fear...like Hitler, Stalin or the threats from russland, that if USA plans to have missile shields in european lands. russia will attack europeans. Respect but also fear for some.

I must ask, what is the kind of thing you respect most? I believe many people have different criteria. Is it success? Fame? Personality, intellect, character?

For me it is mostly success, intellect and personality. Unfortunately having the first two does not mean you cannot be a jackass or have a nasty personality. Success is another thing as you cannot deny that some may have accomplished a lot more than you though the means or what they do with it may be less than admirable.

Naturally having one of these does not equal instant respect as there are people that will not be able to earn it no matter what. Because they have a stain that is hard to go away.
