On thing I don't like is the fact that some of the alternate upgrades no longer keep the original abilities the un-upgraded units have. For example:

Nosferatu: lost no retaliation the vampires had.
Raksassa: lost no retaliation
Dark Raiders: lost Raider Charge

I mean, it does not sound normal that an upgrade has lost one of the benefits the un-upgraded unit had.
Furthermore if we look at the skeleton warrior for example we see that it has lost 1 speed point.

This I find unnatural, and it's not in the spirit of HOMM imo...

Marble Gargoyle - Flying, Elemental, Enraged, Elemental Aura, Elemental Vulnerability
Gargoyles and all creatures (including allies) standing near them will receive 1,5 times more damage from fire, air and water based spells.

This is worse than useless. This hurts the academy, not helps it. The academy has poor spell power and has light magic and summoning in its guild, not destruction. Gargoyles are needed for defending mages/gremlins and can't do that now since they will now be making the enemy's spells stronger.

In shorter maps against non destructive casters(hero or unit) they could give a boost even if for that icebolt with no mastery. Why not?
Obsidian Golem - Mechanical, Obsidian Sphere, Destructive Magnetism
Obsidian golems are immune to all spells excluding those dealing damage. Every spell that deals magical damage heals and resurrects golems. The amount of restored hitpoints equals to 50% of the damage, which would have been dealt by the magical attack. At the start of the battle, golems receive “Obsidian sphere” that zeroes damage from destruction spells. If the golem stack was somehow damaged, next magical attack that hits them will heal the stack. If the golems suffer from area spell together with allied units, they will transfer portion of the damage to themselves.
Another special that depends on destruction magic rather than the academy's native summoning and light magic.

Yes but warlocks would think twice than shooting a fireball/meteor swarm to hurt the golem's adjacent units.
I, for one, am dying to find out what colour they paint Michael's toenails.

I find myself often taking destructive with wizards so I see no bad in this. If you fight warlocks take the obsidian gargoyles instead.

about the golems, well, first we must ask ourselves how this will work with irresistible magic.Second, I don't think a warlock would bother resurrecting some golems which are slow as crap and can be easily killd with blood furies and such.

Still, the new golems has a much better init, although, the infinite retal sounded really good on those other ones. I wonder if the March of the Golems perk is not a bit too strong right now...

Golems are decent imho. Other than that... crap. Unless magic aura is something spectacular.

So the mages lose the ray attack and lose fireball and righteous might. Fist sucks for the most part.
Yeah right but this gottabe a different fist and cleansing are always handy, especially against necros. I like this new academy guys. Oh and did I forget to say that obsidian may be both black and brown? The black is a very dark brown obsidian color, jeeez. OBSIDIAN Golem FTW! tehir special I think its great, dude they resurrect by getting direct dmg spells on them, whats wrong with that, they are gonna be making toast of Dungeon! The storm lord are great...oh my sry my filthy fingers who wrought that. The looks of that guy is fresh, limeish and the special ability seems nice but darn make the ability for both this guy and the Titan do more damage!!!! Hellleeeu!!!

The combat mage are for me an apperentice that have not mastered higher spells or an mage that didnt study so long as his fellow magicians
Now we have caramel mage (mage), lacrise mage (arch mage) and this new choclate mage (combat mage) :-D :yummy: Academy may not focus on nudity and sexy creatures but sweet, sweet candy...bam! (as Zap Brandigan said) B-) Academy are our candy store with circus assortments :D ANd pina colada :)
Like their looks, like their stats mostly. The gremlin, hehe cool guy B-) nice new glassesand those "new" clothes makes him seems he had some though time demolishing the enemywar machines, whichis a neat ability, Deleb killer and for the other heroes who focus on war machines

But, yeah but since they were working on new alt for the djinn, I just get frustrated when I think of how they could rework all the djinns looks in one go!!!!! Making them look like the genies from, lets say...H3! Damn some modders help us here!
