I'm with xander.

that's it? no more spells? H4 had an awesome spellbook in my opinion. this is such a step down. but hey, maybe that's not all. this is a WIP (both this part on CH and the game in itself) so I'll stop whining.

A bit depressing that the spell name is misspelled.

I must admit, this is very disapointing.I admit that having fewer spells can be a better thing, but this is just ridiculous.

"Only" 40 spells yes but they are each one of them quite useful, there arent many upgrades of one though as in previous games. Which can be both good and bad, because some upg spells caused area or mass effects.

But dont be dissapointed, remember there are always a chance we get to see more spells, skills, abilities in expansion(s) ;)

My experience is that there really should be another 20 or so spells. The 10 spells for each school (except Summoning, which seems to have many more for some reason) will get old pretty quick.

As for spell names- the beta readme says that the game's English isn't perfect and that it will be corrected later.

Glad to see I'm not the only one disappointed with the lack of spells. Big time let down.

with few spells, it would be pretty easy to get your hands on the awesome level 5 ones. in H4 I remember playing as nature and always cringing when I got a "summon" spell.

but whenever I got my hands on dragon strength, booya! seems like the same feeling will be missing in this game.

You cried when you got the summon?L5 summons are among the best spells in the game.Who can withstand the awesome power of evergrowing rebirth of phoenixes,or the devastating binding of manta?

Hmm thats true, its more interesting with alot of spells (still all should be useful, depending on the situation) it was always exciting to see (both in H3 and H4) which spells I got this time after I upgraded my magic guild to lvl 4.

So now thats there are only 40 spells I hope they appear random for each time you build the magic guild from scratch and upgrading it thereafter.

Displacement is probably the spell I will miss the most!

Btw, several spells of the Destruction school look too much alike (icon): Magic Missile, Lightning Bolt, Ice Bolt, Frost Ring, Implosion.

I would like them to be easier to distinguish just by the icon.

And how many spells are you using in homm3 or homm4?

imho 40 spells are enough if all of them are useful.

I H4, easily many more than 40. In H3, perhaps not quite as many as 40. But I still think there should be more spells.

Spells And Magic Schools

I don't understand the logic behind the summon magic school. Why is Resurrect and Earth Quake summon spells? With this logic it's just as natural to say that Meteor Shower and Chain Lightning belongs to the summon magic school.

And although Animate Dead fits into the school logically, I would much prefer the spell to be a Dark Magic. As I would prefer Resurrect to be a light magic. But perhaps that's just old habits talking...

I wonder why they have opted for this scheme. It seems like a crossbreed between H4 and H3. Summoning magic seems extremely unbalanced, and strange really.

I think the devs definitely need to do some changes. More spells would be very nice! Say, 3 spells per level at least. And the balance between the magic schools must be addressed.
