proposals for the rest of the alternates

haven - the renegades(but a bit more balanced, for example the damage for Fallen Angel should be 30-50, the enforcer should lose 2 hitpoints, vindicator should 2 defense points, -3 defense points for zealot, damage for crossbowman 2-7)

necropolis (arantir's troops, undead fighting against demons)
warrior skeleton (a stronger melee skeleton)
mutant zombie (faster but weaker)
mane (fright attack)
vampire count (life drained replaced by life steal-100% instead of 50% and it loses teleport, slower)
power lich (stronger but no spells)
tormented spirit(fright aura, faster)
skeletal dragon (200hitpoints and more decnt stats but no cursing attack, more expensive than spectral drgaon)

fortress (hangvul's troops, everyone who is not a dwarf is an enemy)
stout defender( losses defense for attack)
spearthrower (more shots but no wound)
polar bear rider (slower but stronger)
raging brawler (more hitpoints but slower)
rune wielder ( not a shooter but with more spells)
stormlord (losses stats but can cast chain lightning)
lava dragon (instead of magma shield fire shield, 300 hitpoints)

academy (warrior wizards)
gremlin sniper (no range penalty)
crystal gargoyle (immune to lifedrain & all magic)
gold golem (loses infinite retaliations but stronger)
battle mage (loses all spells and mana chanelling but stronger)
djinn emir (loses spells but more hitpoints)
rakhassa queen ( infinite retaliation but weaker)
fire colossus (same as titan but cannot call lightning and has a fire attack)

No offense, but I think that would be just like that they choose reaper for 6 and ghost dragon for 7 :)

I beg for more health, 60-80 hp and with lvl 1-2 spell immunity would they make more worthy but loses the ability to cast spells and lower initiative, like -2. Or speed -1.

Reaper for lvl 6 and Ghost dragon for lvl7 would be just as possible names for the alternates as they you suggested ;)

Yes those are good names.
the skeletal looks different than the ghost dragon though(incorporeality vs. bony full of spikes)

...Or they will stick stubbornly to the awful tradition of giving us (necros) awful lvl7 units. :tired:

What is intriguing me is the alt. upgrade of the vampires. Since HOMM2 with their explosive "Blah"s those creatures are my dearest assault troopers. (By the time of HOMM3 I even elaborated a study about Vamp. lords effectivity and progression graphics determined by their amount).

What about...

Anathem - This time shrouded in cloaks and binded in chains, they would represent the lowest cast, those vampires who were created without permission or were banned by their lords (therefore unable to reach and/or maintain the chain of nobility known of the vampire society). Those tormented souls are kept captive on prisons to derange from hunger and feed not on blood but on hate.

Their hunger can only be sat on the battle field.

Features: they lose their ability of Life Drain and acquire the ability of Blood Frenzy. Instead of gaining hit points with each succesful attack, they increase in attack. This would make them the exact opposite of their counterparts, being relative inoffensive on the firt strikes and slowly lethal.

I cannot help thinking of the new alt. upgrades of ghosts as posessers: depending on their number and the number of opponents they would only need to touch them to posess them. This means (graphically speaking)... Ubisoft would only have to use the effect that they already have (looks like the ghosts are trying to get inside the victim), and then simply disappear from the battle field...

The affected enemy unit would be then under the effect of a puppet-master-like spell once each battle.

Disavantadge: Completely mediocre attack and defense stats.

Not if its true that all 7lvl units ( basic and upg ) will be cheaper, that will be the savior for necropolis, especially if the undead dragons will cost even less. The bone one are around 1k, the spectral 1.5k and the new one somwhere in between etc.
