Not quite. Every Magic Skill (Destruction, Summoning, Lighht and Dark) has three abilities. Each of those boost two spells. Most of them do that by giving the player an "extra" spell- same as the basic one, with twice the cost and a 3x3 area. Advancing the skill increases the effect of the spelltheLuckyDragon wrote:Oh. That's an interesting twist. And I guess that by advancing in mastery of the Magic School Skills that area gets larger and larger?

I'd like to see a gravity [aura] spell. This spell would make the enemies army slower afoot and a-wing etc and decrease the damage in melee attacks since the weapons are heavier. Also shooters ranges could be decreased somewhat. At higher skill levels this Grav Spell also lightens the Hero using it up to the point of flying in the air in battles.Hurry

Good question, I never understood those spells and rarely used them. I think I tried planting a mine on the enemy's drawbridge once, but then *somehow* they knew that it was there and *just happened* to decide to cross the moat area instead of going over the bridge...I'll swear it wasn't because of a shorter distance...DaemianLucifer wrote:How do some of,lets say less usefull, spels like mine and quicksand work?Is the dumb randomness of HIII back?
Anyway, I wish mass spells were still in rather than area effect. Oh well. And Hurry's idea about a gravity spell is interesting. Would it be that an area of the battlefield is gravity-ized, or that certain units are? Could be fun.

Yeah it was a pretty irritating spell, especially when there are alot of obstacles on the battlefield.DaemianLucifer wrote:Its still stupid. Why isnt it under your control like in HIV?Quicsand is actually a very powerful spell against walkers.Even more powerful than slow.Gaidal Cain wrote:Haven't seen Quicksand, but Land Mine placement works like in H3, but the smaller field makes it a bit more useful.

I think you put it well enough yourself:DaemianLucifer wrote:Its still stupid. Why isnt it under your control like in HIV?Quicsand is actually a very powerful spell against walkers.Even more powerful than slow.Gaidal Cain wrote:Haven't seen Quicksand, but Land Mine placement works like in H3, but the smaller field makes it a bit more useful.
You didn't honestly believe that that feature was gonna make its way around the strict "Ban HIV" law?

I say we start a referendum to get the law changed.Gaidal Cain wrote: I think you put it well enough yourself:

Oh, that law...Gaidal Cain wrote:The one that says that everything that was in H4 and not in the other games is evil and must be avoided lest it would destroy H5.
