Round Table Battles Round 2 - Into the Tundra

Unread postby Psychobabble » 16 Apr 2007, 12:28

<a href=https://www.celestialheavens.com/684><img src=https://www.celestialheavens.com/admin/ ... tundra.jpg align=right vspace=10 hspace=10></a>Round 1 of the round table battles is over and, wow, we really have a contest on our hands! Almost all of the the 12 entries were on heroic difficulty and there is very little separating most of them. A group of Chinese players from "gamerhome" seem to have done particularly well, although our current leader is one Mr. Fisher who completed Fury of the Elements in just 15 days - and I have the screenshot to prove it! Full round 1 scores can be found on the <a href=https://www.celestialheavens.com/684>contest page</a>

Anyway, round 2 has now started. The map is <a href=https://www.celestialheavens.com/search ... earch>Into the Tundra</a> which looks to be a pretty good medium sized map. I'll probably give players about 3 weeks to complete this. I have decided to change the rules of the contest a little - if you haven't entered yet you can still enter by submitting a score for fury of the elements, but you do so at a 25% penalty which means you'll have to to extra well on the later maps to make up the difference. Hope everyone enjoys the map and get your scores in.

Finally, if you don't see your score on the posted round 1 score list then please email us at staff@celestialheavens.com as soon as possible.

No, the red links were my mistake, I made the table in word and those were the ones which triggered the automatic spell checker :). I'll send you their names when I get time though :).

Hi,

I have a little question about this map and how things are usually handled in Round Table Battles:

The objective of that map is to get the Tear of Asha and bring it home. But if you play this map a second time, you know the location of the Tear of Asha.
So here my question:

Is it allowed to go directly to this location without visiting any obelisk, dig out the Tear and bring it home? Or should everyone have to visit all the obelisks?
Also, at end of this map you get a Hall of Fame - entry. Is it now better to send a screenshot of this entry?

Thanks for answers

g..

Khan

Isn't the Tear of Asha randomly placed every time the map plays? Or do you mean almost completing it, and THEN loading to the start of the map, and go strait for it??

That would be right out cheating, I think:(

The great problem is: on a screenshot it isn`t possible to control if any obelisk was vistited. That`s why Khan ask the question. We don´t want to play the map for a good result and after finishing we called " cheater". To make a poosibility to control the visiting of obelisks it`s better to send a savegame to psychobabble. it means more trafic, but its the only way to control...

But the big question is: is it necessarily visit all of the obelisk?

With only a screenshot it isn`t possible to control that. And when it isn`t possible to control we should say, it is permitted digging the grail without visiting the obelisks

Finished the Map, and can do a whole lot better, if I don't have to visit all the obelisks. It's a fact, that in Heroes 5 you don't have to, if you want to dig out the tear of asha...

I guess, that additional rules have to be determined for this contest. This issue is not a question of cheating, however.

So what are the rules ???

Maybe an additional screen of the puzzle-map is required ?

please advice ;-)
