This is great news - I am particularly thrilled at the fact that the dwarven faction will be present in the expansion and that the expansions can be combined.

Knowing that a Russian company is responsible for making Heroes V and its

expansions, I suggest naming the latest part of the Heroic saga as "Bribes to the East". (Russia has been in the top 10 for most corrupt countries in the world for more than 15 years as of 2007)

Don't worry if things are going badly today. They will be much worse tomorrow.

"These are alternate choices of upgraded creatures with different powers and capabilities, not an extra tier of more powerful creatures. Players will be able to recruit both the new and classic upgrades in the same town."

Im pretty sure everybody has this all wrong. they never said that we will be able to recruit both upgrades form the same building, they simply said that both will be available in every town. that means that maybe there will be alternate buildings, which i would assume to be true since no amount of laziness on Nival's part could cause them to make such a bad decision as this, imo. then again, the have surprised me in the past.

and are you sure its just 15 years?

Ok, one more nickname to push: Prides of the Freaks
Prides of the Freaks

Prides of the Freaks,
Thats the new game
With all new tweaks,
Nival take the blame,

If the things you add,
Like a draining angel,
Make the players mad,
Do go too spacial!

Keep the creatures in balance,
Thats all that we ask,
No atomic explosions by orcs when they dance,
Now is that such an imposible task?
Frodo: "I wish the ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened."
Gandalf: "So do all who live to see such times but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us."

To AS: Did you really need to ask that question in the news? We now discuss two topics in in one tread.
I am back and ready to... ready to... post things.

Ah well.

Arveragus In a Different Thread wrote:I am not overly enthusiastic about the alternative upgrades. I think this system did not work well in Heroes IV either. After I conquered an enemy castle, I would often find that the enemy had built all the 'wrong' creature dwellings, making them incompatible with my own armies (by building the Mages' building instead of the Gold Golems' one, for example). I foresee similar problems with this title.
Gaidal Cain in the same thread wrote:Yay! Not quite the chaotic system we've wished for, but we're getting there. And it's bound to work better than in H4 since you can still ship around the basic creatures and upgrade them in one town (if only Ubival would make the caravan able to carry already bought units)
It seems that no matter how they handle it, they can't win. :)

I think "Prides of the Freaks" is the best so far. Good job GOW!

As for discussing two topics in a single news, I didn't expect the nickname challenge to be so popular.

Tight of a Squeeze.

Ya know, to squeeze out more from the series. : ) And it's surely a tight squeeze for Nival and Ubi to show us that they are able to squeeze out something GOOD of it. ; )

For the nickname, I would suggest: "Eyes of the Teased" since it follows the same pattern as "Farmers of Hate" that the two first letters on the nouns are swapped. :)

Some suggestions:

1) Trites of the Least (or East, referring to Nival)

2) Grides of the Feast (referring to Orcs)

"I had hoped that going for one upgrade precludes the hiring of the alternative upgrade (similarly to the hiring system in Heroes 4), but that doesn't look like it's going to be the case."

Oh my ****ING god, they screwed it up ALREADY!? What is the point of having TWO UPGRADES?

How could Nival be so stupid? Everything that makes Heroes great is already there, and they keep taking old ideas that work and screwing around with them, thinking they can make them better, but they actually get worse!!!

It's going to be called Heroes V: Nival's Final ****-up!! It's a stand-alone package to the rest of the Heroes games because IT DOESN'T COMPARE, AND NEVER WILL!!!!

Sorry for the language, but it is justifiable because this really bugs me. Alot.

Dude, relax. It's alternative upgrade, not additional upgrade.

Didn't most ppl hate taking new towns that had the opposite buildings/units in them?!
