Upgraded Skill Wheel

Unread postby Lord Zeus » 15 Jan 2007, 17:01

I, like many heroes fans love the skill wheel. It's a great, easy to use tool to plan your skills, and Aurelain has done a great job.
Still I whould have liked to be able to plan a specific hero, and to see what skills he can take or can't take.
I PM Aurelain with my idea along with a screenshot of what I was thinking( I don't have much programming skills :( ), and he replied with this nice message:
Hi, Lord Zeus.

I am truly sorry that I didn't reply, but I seldom visit the forum, and never read the private-messages . Luckily, I read your comment on the Skillwheel page.

About your idea:
I have indeed thought of something similar, in the way of being able to build a whole hero (including spells and artifacts, and of course, the attributes that you mentioned). But I felt it wasn't _really_ needed, so I ceased any development. Your idea seems somewhere in-between: not so complex, but still enough to require some few hours of programming.

In conclusion, unless something unexpected shows up (like huge crowds of Heroes fans wanting the feature), I'm not likely to implement it.

I really thank you though,
Aurelain
As you can see IF a lot of people vote fo the upgraded skill wheel maybe Aurelain would be kind enough to do it.

PS: I voted yes ;)

Thanks,

Well the idea is nice but seems kinda like a time sink. My opinion may change when they release the duel character editor since the artifacts and stats are done randomly in game with no way to control their growth it at best is an estimation. The artifacts have ingame desciptions as do skills the rest is basic math. The only feature I really wish to see in there is having the heroes there. But as I said when the duel editor comes out I shall reassess and assuming I remeber Ill vote then.

I too agree the the idea is nice, but considering that Aurelain has a life to live, I am not feeling like pressurizing him to do it.

I never said anything about pressurizing. I just wanted to see how many people want this idea, and maybe if he sees that there are a lot of people that want this idea he might consider it.
I would never favor bullying people. I'm gentle like a :baby:

Me too, but only when he gets the time. The Skill Wheel is an exceptionally helpful tool for playing Heroes 5. Otherwise no one (me) :-D would know how the Skill Tree(s) relate to one another or how to get the Ultimates. A big thank you Aurelain, for giving this gift to us Heroes fans.

I voted no. It seems like too insignificant an improvement for the time required to invest in implementing it. It's easy enough to predict the development of your hero with the wheel in its present state.

Hmm, you make a good point. Maybe the update should take place after the next expansion instead.
