Yeah, their paint job makes them so different... and who's to say that the other town's alts aren't just as different in ideology to the main units as the Renegades, just that they aren't as intolerant as the light humans, so they don't kill each other as much.
They are like Jedi... Scattered over the world, fighting the evil forces... :D
Yeah, it's not like the Jedi had a headquarter where Anakin could just kill all jedi kids....

taking a closer look at that seven screenshots and this is what I came up with:
1.a goblin with a sword - a goblin with a chained trap
2.a goblin shaman
3. a female orc with some animal fur on her head - a female orc with a horned mask
4.a male orc with a sword and a buckler
5.a centaur/orc (centorc???)
6. a big thing (either a big orc with an axe or a cyclop or a troll)
7.paokai

Disapointing line-up. I would have liked to see one unit like the orc blademaster from warcraft3 or at least like an orc Grunt. I mean an orc with a sword and a buckler is stupid, one with two axes would have been much better...

Yeah, leave the butlers to Batman and Tony Stark... (it's buckler)

But then there would only be Dragon Knights in this faction... erm... never mind.

We don't know all upgrades yet.

Well, that's good to know.

Now we know the price will be decent. What's left is to hope the product will meet the expectations. :)

1) If the renegades are not the alternative upgrade for Haven then they should be recruitable from some dwelling on the adv. map; same goes for neutrals.
2) If the renegades aren't the alternative upgrade for Haven then we would have 4 different types of peasants, which is a bit too much if you'd ask me.
3) If.... then maybe they should form a new faction, in this way we would have 5 types of peasants. :disagree:

I just read in the news thread that the orcs won't be able to cast spells in combat. I'm not sure I like that. I do like that the cyclops is level 7, and I hope that the combo artifacts aren't overpowered like in heroes 2.

Stop worrying. The Renegades are the alternate upgrades. ;)

Well, it’s at least good to know that Nival suppressed their Seventh-Dragon fetish, if only barely.

If the orcs can't cast magic do you think they are magic proof? What's their racial special again? Or are we getting the orb/sphere of negation?

I heard (but might be just a Russian forum rumour) that they have the ability to counter (at least partly) the magic.

Now help me understand this: how come a dumb orc, so dumb he cannot figure out the simplest lvl.1 spell for casting, has such a deep knowledge of the magic mechanism, that is able to counter the effect of some spells? I'd more expect a wizard to have such a skill...

Isn't an innate racial ability? And who says orcs are dumb? Maybe they choose not to use magic. And the wizard does have such a skill, magic mirror.

To me this is arguing along the lines of how come 50 black dragons fit into the same space as 2.

if their racial skil is battle rage maybe one of the three other is magic resistance(25%) and their ultimate is 80% magic resistance or something

God I hope not. That would be totally game breaking. A might heroe benefits his troop 100% of the timedefensively and offensively. To cause a magic heroe to be unable to benefit his troops 80% of the time would be absolutely unbalanced.

The wizards can gain counterspell, which can interrupt one spell, either one heroe spell or one creature spell. Magic Mirror can also be learned which gives a chance of redirecting a hostile spell to a random unit (including friendly units.)

If the orcs indeed have a magic dampening skill, I'll bet it is a passive skill that requires no action on their part.

Hmm. THat means no use for 5 of the 12 normal skills, no use for 1 of the four primary stats, and very little for another. Doesn't fit quite right with me.
