Anyway, nice skyline you have there stefan - especially in the last pic. My uncle in Melbourne was trying to convince me to move there, but now that I see Perth, it's nice to know I even have choices (should I really consider moving down under).

Ok - moving away from the travel posters...

This is my son dressed up for "Decades Day" at school. He chose the '80's. *sigh* You know you're old when your kid wants to dig through your closet to find stuff for a dress up day.

Several of his friends at his 'artsy fartsy' school think this is a good look for him. Two people said he looked like he "Was about to kick someone's ass." If that weren't so funny, I'd be disturbed.

I sell those gloves at my costume shop. $5 a pair. But we could only FIND one when we were digging through old costume junk around the house. I told him it didn't matter. The '80's were all about being 'different' and 'breaking all the fashion rules.' Now the BELT is real leather, vintage and has little skull shaped studs all the way around. It ROCKS! To bad the jacket (also vintage) covered it up and very few people saw it.

Baggy clothes were originally hand-me-downs from older siblings and the like. Now it's haut-couture (whatever the spelling is). Life is funny.

Yeah. Exactly. Combat boots with TuTu were not uncommon. Guys wearing cut away jackets with jewelry and military cording. Fringe on EVERYTHING. It was a fun time when it was COOL to go to the thrift store to find clothes. The crazier stuff you could find and put together - the better.

The other side of the coin were the "Preppies". Everything had to be PERFECT! All brand new clothes. Never wear anything but the freshest, darkest endigo blue jeans that looked like they had been spray painted on. Button down collars. "Memeber's Only" jackets and "Izod" shirts.

as for the water Kalah, it is clean, no diseases .... looks clean don't it?

and for the others, I did try to find some pics of the worse places, but couldna find any handy, and I spose I could go for a drive and take some, but what's the point, I can describe them, there are a few places here where the paint is peeling on apartment blocks, and the gardens are overgrown, but the thing about Perth, especially at the moment is that it really is booming, and there is massive infrastructure works in progress - there are whole areas with nothing but new houses, gardens, shops and schools, the older areas are generally being improved, and redeveloped

so while you will find areas that aren't so flash and postcardy as those I posted, there are also large areas that are better then what I showed .... but Australia is renowned for its beaches, and they are great - clean and fantastic .... definately not beach weather today - 21 degrees - it's freezing
