I don't really think that they've thought up a truely GOOD method of government. I don't think they ever will. Let's face it, in any group of people, there are bound to be someone who is unhappy with the situation. There will never be 'perfection' because that's an ideal, a goal, that can never be truely experianced.

Well, it's hard for them to stop with stereotypes as long as Vel is feeding them pictures of Gypsies and garages telling people those are houses we live in (can't believe people bought it).

@Vel: if you're gonna bull**** about Romania more often than... once a month let's say... I'm gonna start reporting you. No offence, but we just talked about it and two weeks in a row is just too often. ;p

About the buildings though there's not much thing I can say in our defense though, except maybe few things:
- After the war destroyed everything, sth had to be built fast for the people to have roof
- I guess we also have to thank Roosevelt and the western powers for selling us to the Stalin after the war against our will, which triggered 50 years of communism, no Marshall plan aso.
- Although things are getting better now in Romania (indeed not communist anymore Scarlett) - with people having enough money for a decent life (food, clothes and all basic stuff), we still don't all have that much money for the luxury of redecorating and rebuilding everything.

Thanks. And you're right about the first building. But if I may proudly add - no offence to the other fellow Americans here - IMHO (and at least from some pov) the Romanian Atheneum looks a bit better than the White House:





The White House is however more special through what it represents.

Not really floating, but pretty much on the lake. It's nice to spend the night there and wake up in the mourning surrounded by water, fresh air and mountains.
