Round Table Battles... Return!
I'm please to announce that the Round Table Battles are returning as of this week! For those that don't remember, this was a successful single player map playing competition we ran back in the Round Table Mark I days. The format of the competition is going to be like this, this time (all of this will go up on the soon to be created contest page):
This is a single player map playing contest. Players are ranked by their map score, which needs to be verified by sending a screenshot of their score to staff at celestialheavens.com with "Round table battles" in the title of the email.
The competition will be five "rounds" long. Each round will involve playing one map and last for one to two weeks, depending on the size of the map.
Scores can be re-submitted, but to prevent flooding of our inboxes, a max of 3 scores per player will be accepted (so wait till the end of the round before submitting your third score)
Points will be awarded at the end of each round corresponding to rank (1 for first, 2 for second etc.). Like golf, a lower score is obviously better.
To be eligible to have your score accepted for each round after the first, you must have submitted a score for each of the prior rounds (it's the only way to ensure integrity of the scoring system).
At the end of the competition there will be much glory and celebration awarded to the winner.*
All maps must be played with no mods and using the latest patch.
If you cheat to try and win glory and celebration on the interweb, well, that's just sad
The competition will begin some time this week, I'm just pre-announcing it to give people warning and to put a couple questions out there. First, does anyone have map suggestions? I'm planning on having at least one of every size of map and am looking for maps which play pretty well in single player but aren't so constrained that there isn't much room for player skill to come into question. Thus, it's probably better to steer away from RPG maps. Second, does anyone have a better way of judging performance than the default map score that is simple, reliable and based on the statistics reported at the end of the map? Please answer these questions in the comments to this news post.
So get your game re-installed, patch it up and lets get ready to rumble!

Judging by this line, it's a Heroes V competition, right?Psychobabble wrote:So get your game re-installed, patch it up and lets get ready to rumble!

Round Table Battles... Return!
i'd like to try again {did the last 3 RTB's some years ago} if i can find time.
the last time we did 3 contests in one year, & it was a bit much, thats why even though the RTB's are awesome. some people may have gotten slightly "burnt" and there was'nt the feedback for more, like there should've been.
1 contest a year & 1 map a month would be perfect...!!

I have never tried it...sounds like a lot of fun!
Re: Round Table Battles... Return!
Yes, I remember you, having copied and pasted your nickname a couple of times on the scoreboard! There wasn't much going on when we last ran a series of battles, and some people kept asking for more maps, so that's why the contests were going quite fast. I agree that a more relaxed pace might be better, but it's up to Psychobabble.Mik-Angelo wrote:i'd like to try again
