Nival US Shuts Down
By looking at <a href="/http://www.linkedin.com/pub/1/857/873">Tim Lang's profile on LindedIn</a>, I found out that he recently joined a company called Spinmaster Studios as Lead Designer. Tim told me that the US office of Nival is no more:
<i>"I left Nival at the beginning of December. Due to some financial problems with their investors, the US office wasn't making as much money as they had expected, and they shut down the studio.
<a href="/http://www.spinmaster.com/index3.jsp">Spinmaster inc</a> [is] the toy company that owns the Aquadoodle and Tech Deck toy lines. We're very early in the studio building phase, and are working on some online concepts."</i>
That's a small blow to a potential Might and Magic X, for those of you who are still hoping to see this game become a reality. We wish the best of luck to Tim with his new projects!

I think it's a blessing to a potential Might & Magic X. Let's hope when UbiSoft decides to do Might & Magic X, Nival won't be the developer they choose.Angelspit wrote:… That's a small blow to a potential Might and Magic X, for those of you who are still hoping to see this game become a reality. M&M X by Nival, the developers of H5. There's something to wish for. Not. Rejoice!
In War: Resolution, In Defeat: Defiance, In Victory: Magnanimity, In Peace: Goodwill.

I agree Kalah and HodgePodge, but I don't think Ubi will make another choice. Nival is the cheaper (and the worst I've ever seen), and the product sells due to its Name. The perfect business! Ubi only cares about money, not quality, so they will do the best for the first one and this is the choice of Nival.

I remember someone talking about bethesda doing mmx... now THERE's a dream... sick of ubi.
MMT seems to finally be getting somewhere though, they've expanded their beta, so something must be there to test!

If only Bethesda would create it...unfortunately, it has the chance of a snowball in hell.

Yeah, that would be like EA launching a second series of NFL games, wouldn't it?
I haven't played any new Nival games, but 5 years ago they were making great games. (Allods, Evil Islands)
My patches: MM6 MM7 MM8. MMExtension. Tools. Also, I love Knytt Stories and Knytt Underground. I'm also known as sergroj.

Nival is certainly not making any friends with modders...I'd say good riddance.

Us Americans didn't start out disliking Nival, it's just that they've botched Heroes V and the Editor to the point of distraction. Anyway, Nival didn't like us from the very beginning, even before Heroes 5 was released; it's nothing Americans did, they're just BIGOTS!Gaidal Cain wrote:"In america, you don't like Nival. I think y'all just didn't like Nival from the beginning I've heard a lot of complaints that it was coming from Russia or Europe and not America
I guess you were and still are one of them
Persoanlly I think Heores 5 is an average game that manages to be safe, and very similar to Heores 3, if they did anything big change then you would complain even more, maybe in heroes 6 when you see revival of series
