Installation help for Gathering Storm

Greetings all, I am haveing trouble getting my expansion The gathering storm, or any downloaded patches to work. I have the US retail version of HOMM4 and for Gathering Storm, not the downloaded versions. Whenever I try to install Gathering Storm I am told HOMM4 is not installed and the installation stops. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the original with no luck. HOMM4 is installed at C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Heroes of Might and Magic IV on my system. I never changed it so I am assuming this is the default. But I wonder if it is the default since my expansion and downloaded patches will not install. Can you check your system to see if this is the default location, or if you know why this is happening. thanks in advance.

Hmmmm, I wonder if somehow you've got a recent original H4 which is distributed by Ubisoft but an older TGS which was distributed by 3DO. Try re-naming the "ubisoft" folder to 3DO (that's an O for orange) and see what happens.

well I hate to advocate piracy since the Homm franchise was on the verge of extinction but if you have paid for both issues then well.. try your luck on the internet.

it seems like you will get h3 and h4 (both complete) with H5 so you could wait for that.

if you don't want to wait, and don't like piracy then play the game with equilibris. I never even encountered those new monsters anyway. only goblin knights and megadragons.

i have problems re-installing homm4 too let alone the expansion i got the original disc that was distributed by 3d0 before they went bankrupt (ya i know i preordered it dumb me)

I have had the same issue, and from other postings on this forum it seems that you and I buddy are screwed! The version of HOMM from Ubisoft is not compatible with the old expansions from 3DO. Sucks for you and me. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news If you find something else out would ya keep us posted?

You can buy an edition of H4 that has all three things in one: H4, Gathering Storm and Winds of War. It is cheap and great. If you can't find it anywhere, I'll buy it and send it to you :-)

yeah I see that version in my shop, think its a ubisoft exclusive version
it has the main game with both expansions

Nope dude, not the one. There's another one. The one on the picture is just H4 without the expansions. I have that one too. I'll take a picture and post it later.
