You said some favorites returned, were they heroes or skills. I looked and did not see any hero list.

As for the C.Dragon and Naga.....yeah, they're in the file...but they're retired relics. Sorry. They're not in the game.
No Nagas. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO......................

Never liked Crystal Dragons anyway! But why no Naga?

Because it's rather redundant now that we have the Raksasha. True, I prefer the Naga as well....but Raki's not a bad substitute. :O)

So no other creature has no retaliation as a special ability? Don't see why it's redundant, but whatever.

So are those the only neutral creatures?

How many many-armed freaks do you suppose one can put in one game?

Wait- scratch that. There's already 6 dragons and 14 Elves. The quotinent of Chiccks with snakelegs are unfilled though...

Alot less then those two-armed weirdos we have now. ;)

And after what the poor Naga endured in H4 they deserve to be in the game. (of course seeing that i don't like most of the creature looks i guess it's better their not in)

Gljivko a.k.a Vortex wrote:It seems Titans will finally be able to smash Black Dragons. (*evil smile*)
Why? It clearly seems that still Black Dragon is the strongest unit. :( It has more hit points than Titan and also a bit stronger damage. For me this piece of information is clearly sad, as Titan has ALWAYS been my favourite unit - from H2 through H4, and in H5 surely will be either. By the way, this screenshot depicts Black Dragon as a rather small creature in comparison to Titan/Colossus, which means that its higher HP than Titan's is illogic or at least wrong. Notice that Titan's arm is bigger than Dragon's whole neck with head!
However, there are many illogic stats, like Shadow Matriarch's 90 HPs or Inquisitor's 80 HPs - just compare them with at least 5 tons heavy hydra! Why ain't the stats a bit more reallistic? If a Shadow Matriarch is a thin woman, she should have little HPs, but as this makes her weeker, for example extremely strong spells, higher damage or far lower cost. The same with skills; why has golem 5 attack and 5 defense, while it's an extremely tough and hard creature? It should have lower attack but far higher defense! These are - of course - not the only examples - and this issue does not correspond only to H5 - it was a problem in all HoMM series games, especially in my beloved H4. Using the ResEdit2 program I changed the stats in Equilibris so that they were far more reallistic - and what I can say is that it really made the game better and gave much fun.

Oh, BTW: Hello everybody - I'm new on the forum, but I'm not a newbe to HoMM - I played all of the HoMM games from I to IV with all expansions and I've always been quite a devoted fan. ;)
Cheers,
Boromir

Here's a much better pic of the Phoenix.

I'm still slowly adding info on skills/abilities. Painstakingly slow if I must say. *sigh*

That neutral creature that is named "phoenix" It dosent look like a phoenix i have seen before, just look at its wings, theyre bat/dragon like.

My guess its that it is a sun/gold/celestial wyrm of some sort, a wyvern maybe or maybe it is a gold dragon =D

The phoenix cant be dragon, it is a giant bird...on fire!

They should have used the concept art of the phoenix that didnt get used, cant remember which h-game it was to be in but that phoenix was the best ive ever seen.

Anyway good to see the phoenix back in a weird but beautiful way :-)

@Boromir

Thats a shadow dragon for me. Look at this concept art...

https://www.celestialheavens.com/homm5/ ... dragon.jpg

..you see that the shadow dragon is shady green and a bit grey, it seems that the one from the screenshot (Academy vs Dungeon) is in fact a shadow dragon only with added orange blood veins in the wings and armor plating along its spine.

If my theory is correct, that is a shadow dragon, if so I hope the black one will be larger, with bigger spikes along the spines and very black, like our blackie from H3 =)

The evolution from concept to final creature seems to be drastic for the shadow dragon an exception maybe since dragons is the most popular fable creature ever created.

Yes, that could be the shadow dragon, but notice that there are no units (maybe with the exception of hydra, which has more heads in upgraded version) which's upgraded versions are larger than the 'original'. Black dragon might probably look a bit stronger, but I'm almost sure that it won't be larger.

And, what's more, I'm not sure whether this giant in the picture is a Titan or Colossus - notice that in the picture where Titan/Colossus shoots at Archangel (Was presented in "Go, Titans, Go" news), the giant is blue, and it seems that only Titans are able to shoot, so that it seems that the blue one is a Titan, and a 'gold' one is Colossus. So, even if the discussed picture depicts Shadow Dragon, the proportion of size between Shadow Dragon and Colossus is still illogic (Colossus is far larger but a bit weaker than Shadow Dragon).

Shadow dragon, black dragon whatever. That thing is fugly. And is it just me, or is the Titan just a palette swap of the Colossus?

Hey if I understood it properly the initiative will give a hero a couple of moves per turn (bigger the level, more moves?). It would make sense why there are so many abilities which can be used in battle...

Well, the turn concept is mostly meaningless- it's used for spells, but hardly anything else. But If you ask if creatures with high initiative move more often than those with low, then yes.

Thanks a55a55in, too bad I was hoping UBI had woke up and realized eliminating all of the previous heroes was ridiculous. I guess stupidity still reins supreme.

I just noticed that some of the ranger skill/spells at the pages mention Rampart??? Have Nival changed their mind and are giving the forest town the name Rampart instead of Sylvan? Rampart wasnt actually the best name for the town in H3, Sylvan and Preserve are in fact much better.

Well, my guess is that the town started out as Rampart, but they had to change it because all accusations of H5 being a H3 clone, and then they forgot to edit it away from all places

@Gaidal Cain

I bet that is very true, I think most of the creature names stats was in fact the old one, huh so the whole point was to confuse us, or they who put out the "new" info was confused too? Like the Gold Dragon thing, the name was there but the color was emerald.

I hope the Emerald Dragon will stay it was showing a creative part from Nivals side, not everything was copied from H3 though, its a bit confusing this, good to know it will be clarified soon....I hope :/
