I hope so. It seems we're gearing up for some sort of battle...

Well since nobody is suggesting a course of action yet, I am going to assume the original plan of getting some rest and having the two 'bird people' show you the city is still the plan. Afterwards, going through the portal is still the plan. Too late to speak up now, going forward with this assumption. So...hope everybody is buckled in.

So, do I see what my animal companion sees in "real-time" (I see it as she sees it). Or do I have to wait until she returns?

You do have to wait till the animal returns, but the update is 'assuming' that the animal returns and reports what it witnessed to you.

Quick update, you got to see the city, and went through the portal created by the lynx to the city. Lots of statues arround, that probably are the beings of this city crystalized. Center of town, rest of town also crystal. Some burn marks, some burned skeletons that seem to be perhaps necromancers, wierd orbs, weird staffs. Should cloud things up nicely.

Well you did ask for a quick update

. Ok now a more through update. The bird people agreed to show you the city, through a magical dance they know. Before that, however, Omega and a few others visited a temple of his brothers. They gave everybody some new (lighter) equipment that was handmade. Oh and a few weak magical items that can produce light. One strong magical item also. Each can only be used once, but undead take damage in the presence of any of the objects given when active.

The dance took place, and you got a view of the city. It is entirely made up of some weird crystal, and there are several points of interest, but sadly no neon sign telling where the library that might hold the answers you seek is. Place of interest include several towers, the main castle, and an arena of some sort. Rumor has it that several undead plant things may have been moved into the city, but none were seen during the viewing. Once this was done, Sir William had the Lynx open the portal, but for some reason she did it a bit unusual. She embraced him to open the portal (as a humanoid figure, because she too is apparantly one of the lost races, and the spitting image of a goddess who used to work for the bad guy but betrayed him (moander not the highlord)).

Once in the city, you found what looks like to be crystal statues in various states of disrepair, yet the buildings are still totally intact. Some burn marks, and the odd skeletons that were not crystalized so far is the only thing found. The odd skeletons have broken orbs in one hand (though the orbs still seem to glow with a faint red light), and a staff with a skull in the other hand. Each seems to be wearing some sort of dark robe with odd trim (though mostly that has decomposed and is barely recognizable on all but a few). The orbs are the same material as the town and statues. Now according to Winters pet it is all over town like this, and gets worse the closer it got to the main Castle.
