Asha and the Blade

Unread postby Angelspit » 20 Feb 2007, 14:17

Many fans are very fond of any connections between the old universe and the new one. Here is Asha’s Cairn, a Rampart city in the Armageddon's Blade expansion. Thanks Kareeah Indaga.

Actually the connections are not that random. Originally the story of Heroes of Might and Magic V was supposed to be set in the old Might and Magic universe. Initially Nival had more power over the storyline and they wanted for the story to happen in the land of Heroes of Might and Magic IV. Then UbiSoft scrapped the old Universe and at some point came up with their "Might and Magic World Team" and "Heroes World Bible", so that the world of HOMMV would be consistent with the world of Dark Messiah. According to Ubisoft directions, Nival had to change several faction characteristics and game terminology. The few things that were allowed to remain included symbolic references to important characters in previous games.

Part of the information can be found in this article, which is based on the audio records here.

As for the the remaining information, I do not know if it is allowed to post it here, on celestialheavens.

That article looks really interesting - is there any chance of it being translated into English?

Yep it is interesting, my russian is not very good but there are many thinks for the Heroes 5 "evolution", from beta to 1.0 version, and how Hival are removed many good thinks from the beta, and ideas too, however many info for the first plans of nival for Heroes 5, from the reading, I can say that the first idea for Heroes 5 is kind of 3D Heroes 3 Remake, it is really interesting, and big :P

No, I meant that it is probably not allowed to post resource files from HOMMV beta.

Having read the article (in Russian natch) and other articles regarding Nival's creating on HoMMV it seems that the best path to have stuck to would have been letting fewer different teams work on the game. As it was, everyone was tearing it between themselves and in the end you got a little bit of a mess. Only if one studio is doing one game and takes its time (reasonably) can you get something coheret from all angles.

People need to stop ragging about H5 ! The game is very good and the graphics are excellent. I bet CloudRiderX and ThunderTitan have week computers ... that's why they complain !

PS : ZireX ... I know what you mean
