Will H-V run on Windows Vista?
I'm not waiting for Vista at all, but for XSOS 3.0. Free, low requirements, runs most of windows apps, no DRM... and compatibility with DX10 natively... but the OS kernel is based on something near Linux. At least that's how it is supposed to be, or how I understood it.

yeah it uses a lot of ram. i think its worth it. you don't. its not that i have the extra money to get it. cuz i don't. its simply that i believe that it will be worth it. however i wont be installing it as previously mentioned there are always holes in the security. and until i figure out/read about holes and their fixes i wont be putting it on my computer
I think that people who like the "looks" of Vista should really try and see how Linux looks like nowadays or Mac, it doesn't matter. The thing is that those so called developers and programmers from microsoft obviously tried to copy some things from people far more skilled than them and just blew it again. They made something similar that requires a lot more hardware than it should. And people will gladly pay money for that!

All Vista lovers must read this, before saying anything:

All the so-called new features of Vista fall into two categories:its a lot harder to actually look at what they're putting out and see how its actually better
1. Stuff that Linux and Mac had ages ago.
2. Stuff that is designed to take control of the computer away from the users, like DRM.
And it's hard not to blame Microsoft when they not only attempt to deliberately break compatibility with everything but their own technologies, but publicly say that they want to restrict users in what they can and can't do with their own data "for their own good". For almost every proprietary, Windows-only Microsoft technology out there, there is a free alternative that is not only almost always better, but also portable and supported by many different platforms.

i agree DRM is bull.
copying features that have been around in linux and mac for 'ages'? sounds like Gm copying the steering wheel from Ford in 1908.
anyway i'm by no means qualified to say one way or the other. i think it looks like a (at the very least) decent product. and even though i get an upgrade disc(eventually anyway) with the computer i got for christmas; i won't be putting it on for awhile.

I don't quite get the comparison.copying features that have been around in linux and mac for 'ages'? sounds like Gm copying the steering wheel from Ford in 1908.
I don't have anything against copying features from other systems, but copying them and presenting them as brand new, state-of-the-art, previously unseen features - only in promotional materials, true, but that's all that 99% people read - is bad.

alls i meant is gm copying ford's effective idea is like microsoft copying everyone else's ideas. its also like ps3 copying wii. these things happen. if you were designing a product and saw a good idea from a competitor that you could copy without running into legal trouble, i'm sure you would do it. if you wanted your product to be able to compete anyway

Anyone worrying about "security" in Vista must not know how computers work really and just download shite to their PC, or install shite to their pc. Don't download shit / go on dodgy porn sites (yeah, you do) and you will never get a virus/worm/trojan/spyware/malware.
Also don't use IE because that's just asking for trouble too.

What do you mean by "cost" of Vista? You don't seriously mean the price to buy it, right?
Myself I was going to upgrade to Vista about now when I upgrade my computer but I've changed my mind since Vista is still in it's infancy and XP is full circle. I'll start to consider to use Vista when it is as compatible as XP and will migrate when it's required. Until then, I'm happy enough here with XP.
DRM....one part of me is terrified about it. My own computer will delete my downloaded stuff and control will be taken away! I will have to BUY all my programs!!! AAAARRGGH!
The other part is happy that piracy will finally end so gaming on the PC won't die so consoles can't take over.

Vista requires more memory just like WinXP does over Win98 but Vista have better memory management so games that require large amounts of memory run smoother then under WinXP.
Here's the proof
Dude....what's your problem with Vista..? And as long as Microsofts OSs are better then the rest with games, people will use it. Do any linux dist support Dx 10..?
