They seem to be the ones I'd most likely want to have a pack of … the Heroes 5 Wolves are pretty good too but they look like they have rabies.

I like the H2 one most in-game, but the H4's pic looks so good. Can't decide, will wait to see how it shapes up.

its weird that h4 leads - i thought h4 was the worst wolf, it looks like a puppy, a real wolf should be big hairy scary beast (i havent actually met one personally, but i have been bitten by german shepherd and i quite imagine how much worse a real wolf would be.) when i look h4 wolves attack eg an ogre, its like a poor doggy doing its best before the monster steps on him.

H4 looks a bit like a husky... and looks way to groomed for a real wolf. Still cool though.

Someone was bound to say this sooner or later (in this case sooner was more likely) and I was wondering whether to include the HoMM III varieties, and finally decided to do it, because they're essentially wolves, and whoever is bothered by the presence of the riders - try to concentrate on the wolf!

I don't think that in reality wolves are like you describe (or imagine) them. Also, the HoMM IV wolf is a level 1 creature whereas all the others are higher up, so it's supposed to be weaker, especially in comparison to a level 3 creature (the ogre).

My favourites are the wolves from I, II, and IV. I think I'll go with the second wolf, on a whim.

First off, wolves are not meant to be tame little tea cup dogs that are frightened of their own shadows. They are meant to be wild and should be respected as such. Dogs are nice, friendly, and cuddly. Wolves are proud, independant, and viscious (if cornered). That is why man tries to kill them, too good of competition. Voted for H5, they seem to be the best all-arround. Graphics, strength, and that howl just is very useful.

Finally went with H4... in-game they don't really look that much better then most, but their portrait is great. H2 second, then 3 and 5 last (something up the bum syndrome abounds in that game)

Voted HIV, the HV wolf is more werewolf than wolf.
