Do you still remember Tim Lang, one of the NWC folks? He has worked on Might and Magic games since the times of HoMM2 and MM6, and was the lead game designer of MM9 as well. It appears that for some time Tim is writing fantasy novels, and here’s what he recently wrote at TELP’s tavern!

I decided to self publish (through cafepress.com) a prequel to a novel I finished up during my time off after MM9. It's a fantasy story (not related to Might and Magic) and is probably right up the alley for some or most of you.

If you are interested, check it out – even though it’s not related to Might and Magic, it probably has the Might and Magic touch and should be worth to try out. Let us also not forget that right now Tim Lang is working at Nival US studio on some kind of a secret project, and all he said previous summer in this matter was:

“As far as I know, no MMX is in the works. I am working on some cool stuff that I can't talk about though!”

And we are waiting! Meanwhile, you might want to reread what Tim told Celestial Heavens in an interview back in 2004

Man, those titles are hilarious...
In War: Resolution, In Defeat: Defiance, In Victory: Magnanimity, In Peace: Goodwill.

The synopses sound a little "Terry Pratchett-like".

you almost had me convinced to try these titles out, but then....i read this line -
"and was the lead game designer of MM9 as well"
and it was at that point that i became very unsure. but then i suppose since i never played MM 9 longer than fifteen minutes, i cant judge how good or bad the story was. perhaps Tim Lang had nothing to do with what was horrible about MM9

im sure your right angelspit, the failure of MM9 shouldnt reflect on the talents of Tim Lang. just feel bad for him that he was the lead game designer of the disaster that was MM9. glad he has since done well for himself.
maybe you just remove the reference to MM9, im sure alot of us would rather forget about it too

Given just 7 months (!!!) for MM9 development, Tim and the NWC people actually made a small miracle, delivering the game in such a playable state - most of the games are being worked on about 2 years or more. Even today I find MM9 quite enjoying and too bad there are few game killing bugs, but hey - even today lots of games that had enough time for development, are suffering with the same thing. If you install all MM9 patches up to 1.3, it's quite a good game. It may be weaker than previous titles because it's unfinished and unpolished but I certainly wouldn't call it as a disaster - these are very strong words. In the interview back in 2004 Tim already told what was the situation back then - you might want to reread it. With all this information, I would even want to bold it, that Tim was MM9 lead game designer.

I totally agree with arturchix, MMIX is not a total disaster. even if I have the french version (which remains unpatched to this day AFAIK) I enjoyed playing it. The combats were tactical and interesting, and the story was simple but good as far as I'm concerned. But it's true that it was ugly as hell.

Heh... Funny thing. The main character Olga, is male - but this is Polish female name
Important! Every Beyond Good and Evil fan should look here!
AFAIK, Olga is also a Russian female name, but in Scandinavia it's Helga which means "holy" or "blessed".
Speaking about MM9 graphics, I once told Tim that I really love the design of Lich Lab and he said that it was initially created for Legends of Might and Magic.
If I will have an opportunity, I will try to buy one book.
