H4: Favourite town music score
It seems that the HoMM IV town themes are not especially renowned among Heroes fans. Even so, they are not bad and some are better than others.
So which one is your favourite and what do you best like about it?
Do you plain dislike any of them?
Links to each theme, so you can decide on the spot:
Haven
Academy
Asylum
Preserve
Necropolis
Stronghold

first of all, thx for the links. i havent played h4 for many years now and i had forgotten them.
Haven is boring, i hate it. Preserve is the most idiotic homm town theme ever. Preserve theme is a h2 resurrection, but in a very perverted way. i turned the volume down to 0 every time before i entered a preserve(which means a lot, because preserve was my favorite town).
Infernopol is mediocre.
Stronghold, Asylum and Academy are all great, hard to say my favorite, but ill pick Asylum this time. it gave that good ol' antagonistic feel when i entered an asylum, very chaotic as it should be, and grandeur.

I went with preserve, just because it is the least annoying for me. It is kinda nice backround music that doesnt add anything, but doesnt get on my nerves either. Others are starting to get on my nerves after a while. Stronghold would be the second place. Haven and Academy are most annoying.

Life and Death are easy to drop from contestion. They aren't bad but not that good either.
Rest are a lot harder. Chaos is original but gets little annoying sometimes.
Nature would be very good except at the end of the track where the volume goes up, which can be somewhat annoying (maybe it's just that man's voice). Might is good but Order pulls the longest stick here.

I think all are quite good, and it was difficult to come up with a favourite. From most to least favourite, my list would look something like this:
1. Preserve
2. Academy
3. Haven
4. Asylum
5. Stronghold
6. Necropolis
I see a lot of you folks tend to dislike the Life theme, and frankly, I did as well in the beginning, but it has since grown on me. I prefer the first part of that theme to the second with the operatic voice, but I hardly linger in any town for so long to hear a theme till the end anyway.
I would say the Preserve and Academy themes are the overall best, and both very beautiful in their own right.
Also, I've never noticed until now that the Academy theme starts with a short thumping sound just before the music commences.

thy, i have also'th nothithed the drums at the beginning of the academy theme, haven is just....tedious, especially the somewhat drousy man's voice, preserve was.....okay, maybe a little perverted, asylum was just weird, and necropolis i still hate even though it was better than life. stronghold sounded like barbie doll music.
In the diameter of the Universe, we are but a single flame. To say that we're insignificant is to give us....too little credit. But if the universe chooses you to be part of its plans, then you better let go because it makes it more fun when you don't know what's about to happen next!
I had the H4 music on CD, and listened to the town themes a lot. I used to like the Chaos theme quite a bit. Then a friend pointed out that the lyrics sung by the altos were just the Solfege scale. My opinion of the song (and of Robert King ) dropped instantly.
Even before that incident though, Academy would have been an easy choice. I get a sense of wonder ever time I listened
Necropolis is the runner up. Well, at least the first half is.

This Novice (and occasional) Heroes IV player thinks that Haven's music score is the top of the pops. Noble, majestic and calm but at the same time it's encouraging. Yet it is, according to this poll, one of the most overlooked town music scores in Heroes IV.
