That's not really always true. Some vegetables (such as the tomato, the carrot, and spinach) can actually be MORE healthy for you cooked. This is because some nutrients like carotenes and lycopenes, as well as some vitamins, can only be properly absorbed by the body in the presence of fats. Also many vegetables are made up of indigestable fibers, which need to be cooked in order to be properly digested. Have you been gassy lately? Probably eating too many raw vegetables. On the other hand, some nutrients are broken down by cooking. So the best way to extract the most from your veggies is to eat a mixture of raw AND cooked vegetables, and to eat a good variety of them as well.DaemianLucifer wrote:Because most of them arent very termal resistant and loose over half of their nutritious value that way.

I rather like them, and they are indispensible in a good soup. But, we stray from the topic at hand...DaemianLucifer wrote: carrots are simply awful cooked.

I'm pretty sure that's a "no", and that the question implies that there are two words for "soup" in Romanian...Corribus wrote:I'm not sure I follow what you mean.ThunderTitan wrote: Well they are the only soup vegetables i eat. BTW, do you ppl differentiate between sour and non-sour soup?

In Romanian, soups are clearer that ciorba. We have noodle-soup, for example.

Sheesh, wiki again. This time I'll bookmark it. Thanks, tLD. It sounds good, when I read the contents of the soup.theLuckyDragon wrote:Wiki:

I thought sour soup was a slang.

You don't have to, it works with a normal A too, it just refers to a particular ciorbă (as in the one you just ate, not the one made from X or Y meat - the vegetable one is called just vegetable ciorbă).Panda Tar wrote: I don't know how to put that stuff on the A.
Uhh... meatball soup recipe, nice. Haven't ate a great one in a while.

If i go to a fast food resturant I usually order their green meal (I'm also one of those vegetarians), MAX (swedish fast food chain) has the best veggie burgers I've ever tried.
We had a place that sold a nice falafel some years ago, but I don't know if it's as good as it used to be, so I'll pass for now...
Haven't been out to a 'real' resturant for a while now (mostly pubs or pizza places), but usually they have one or two veggie meals to choose from (whoopie)

What TT was trying to explain earlier is that ciorba has the mark of the definite article, as opposed to the other word, which does not.
It's basically milk, sugar, cocoa and butter warmed up, then mixed with biscuits, raisins and whatever suits your fancy, then refrigerated for about a day.
