What character type are you playing (Single Player?)

After much tweaking I was finally able to get DM up and running. I'm in the Spider Temple now, and am having lots of fun. :)

I'm playing as a mage type character so far. My main combat spells are fire trap and flame arrow right now. I am just shy of skill points to get fireball. I have mana regeneration now, which is making life much easier since I can spam flame arrow now.

I think after getting fireball I'll skip inferno and invest in freeze and the lighting side of the magic tree.

I'm playing a thief-mage, much like my Deus Ex 1 & 2 characters (if you consider the tech toys of Deus Ex as magic, that is). I'm still not very far into the game though, but I hope to take care of that later today.

I'm glad you managed to run the game GOW. Was the tweaking guide of any help by any chance?

I just made it to Chapter 8 - the most excitement starts once Sareth lands on the island. :D

I had already gotten it running before you posted the tweaking guide link.

I read through lots of posts on the official site and did a combination of things. Strange thing is that I can run the game with everything on high but then if I try to load the game later I sometimes have to drop everything to low to get it to load.

I'm in chapter 9 now. Fireball is my main spell now though I use Fire Trap a lot too. I like the level designs as they afford you a number of tactical options rather than just straight up hack and slash.

I had trouble sneaking my way through chapter 2. Sareth makes an awful amount of noise when he walks, and I don't have enough skill points for stealth yet.

I'm chasing the ghoul now. I know I'm not very far in the game, but I need to stop after 30/45 minutes of play because of motion sickness. ;|

Well, my mage just finished. :)

The final battle was interesting.

I found this to be a very enjoyable game despite having a little trouble getting it runnning.

My next character will probably be a stealth based one, though I'll probably play NWN2 first since my LE will be here tomorrow hopefully.

Those dungeons in Dark Messiah are awesome, aren't they? When I finished Temple of the Spider and Necropolis, I tried to remember what dungeons were in any other RPGs I've played and couldn't recall even one close to them. Dungeons in Oblivion, comparing to Dark Messiah, are just a joke. DM dungeons are just massive, very detailed, creepy and dark - something I was waiting for a long time. If Arkane could deliver us a new Might and Magic game with similar dungeons, oh my. B-)

I started my second run this evening. First time I was a pure warrior with some assassin elements, this time probably will do as a warrior as well, combined with damage spells. Right now it's so easy to beat anyone in melee as I had a good learning time during my first play. ;)

I fully agree with you about the massive dark and creepy dungeons in Dark Messiah. Though there are some parts that seem unnatural to me such as the Necropolis underneath Stonehelm, it is way too big and deep!! I just wonder how can the Necropolis still standstill when Stonehelm is above it. Won't the weight of the city crush the Necropolis? Or can you even imagine that how on earth can the people who built the Necropolis can dug out all the earth and move them to some place that no one notice suddenly a big mountain of soil piling up day by day...

On top of that, the developers placed a reasonable amount of wooden planks and beams on top of Necropolis ceilings to allow Sareth to shoot rope arrows to climb around. Why would the Necromancers (or who ever) put those beams??

Just to say a few things to let us pound on those questions...

ps: Even Might and Magic 6 duengeons cannot beat Dark Messiah's
I thought that Might and Magic 9, the last dungeon is very huge to compare with Dark Messiah

I'm nearly done with the game now, halfway through the epilogue. I ended up with a generalist character, with a single major spell (Inferno), two levels of stealth, a couple of skill points in melee and archery (quick reload makes the bow much more fun to use).

On my second run I'll try either a pure warrior or a thief-archer.

3rd time playing as an assassin/archer/healer style.

Pretty good I think because you can backstab enemies, throw daggers (I like this one a lot) and sanctuary is superb (and overpowered already).

On top of that, I must tell all of you reading this, at the last level, I actually backstab Aranthir!!!

How did it happen?

Well, I was on top of the building, and I used bow to kill the necrolord and vampire black knight first before shooting Aranthir from afar. Then as he walks up the stairs whereby there's one part very dark, I just slash at him and suddenly he turned his back on me. The next thing I know, the backstabbing stance is available and I quickly execute backstab on Aranthir and then pushed him down the stairs. The next moment, he is in invunerable state to prepare for last battle. So cool! :D

I'm currently at chapter 9.
My character is a warrior, with fire trap and flame arrow.
Flame arrow helped me a lot untill now :)

I guess the easiest way to explain my character would be a paladin.
Mostly a fighter with some magic sprinked about.I'd have to say my favorite spell so far is fire arrow.
I'm at the end of chapter five, and having a hard time killing those two ghouls, but I'll get them sooner or later.
Jesus saves, and Bergeron scores on the re-bound.

Have a very fruitful day. Jimmy Buffett
