A Message from Fabrice

Unread postby Angelspit » 23 Dec 2006, 14:28

On the official forum, there is a <a href="/http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/ ... 15">repost of a newsletter</a> (thanks st14z) that was sent recently to Heroes fans who have registered their game.

<i>"Creating patches and additional content for Heroes 5 has been a bumpy road up to now, with the multiple masters required for the game, as well as the development of the add-on :)

We are still progressing on the tracks laid out a few months ago. We still have quite a few features being developed, and to be delivered in patch 1.5.

Among them, the duel preset editor is probably one of the most appealing. You will be able to tailor your own hero and play with him on multiplayer duels. We will also expand the map editor with a campaign option: you will be able to link maps together and create mini-campaigns, as complex as you like.

Nival is also working on a tournament tool that will allow anyone to host a small tournament and will manage the rankings between the players.

At this stage we are still gathering ideas and suggestions from the communities: a summary of ideas was done by the French community and another one was sent from Russia. All these ideas are considered and will enter our patch planning if we find them interesting. Of course, during all this time, balance tweaks will still happen! :)"</i>

The message didn't find its way to the Celestial Heavens headquarters, so we suspect there might have been some sort of distribution problem.

Wasn't it originally in Dutch or something? Maybe that's why it didn't make it here so quickly?

I think it was translated in various languages -- not sure what happened there.

I second what omegaweix said. I dont suppose they included any info on how the duel hero editor works like what system they use for balance and such?

At last an official campaign editor, now I hope this patch will take the editor a step towards being more user friendly.

I was pleased with the overall improvements with the HoF expansion. The Dwarven race is really cool. It seems like navigation also has been improved as well as the voice acting & the storyline, which took on new twists, which I may or may not reach a believable conclusion in the next few expansions.

Anyhow, thank you Fabrice for your responses and letting the community know that UbiSoft is still interested in & the improvement of the Heroes of Might & Magic series.

My main wishes at this point are: a user-friendly Map Editor & RMG (I'm no programmer, in fact, I'm a lowly end-user) so ease of use would be much appreciated. I would especially appreciate the ability to edit already created maps in the Maps Folder.

Another improvement, at least for me (and many others too, I'm sure) would be a user-friendly Cheat-code system. One that shows some creativity, like in Heroes III & IV.

Anyhow, Fabrice and everyone at UbiSoft & Nival (and on Heroes forums everywhere) Merry Christmas! & a Happy & Prosperous New Year! :)

Who cares about the silly duel mode?? Geez, the game's still swarming with bugs and he finds the duel stuff "appealing".

*grumbles*
