We get one point for every class we attend in that subject,and it all acumulates to exactly half of the maximum points you can get in the exam.Of course,not everyone is using it like that,but most are.

Wait, what?! WTF didn't they implement this here instead of other really crappy stuff?! We might actualy get more ppl to attend the courses (when getting 20 ppl out of 120 is a good sign you know something's wrong... and when your pubic hair's on fire too)

It didnt help the english classes which still have poor attendancy.

Well we only had english for the first 2 years, but attandance wasn't a probem, not when the teacher looked like that.

They haven't applied that here either. Sounds more like something they wanted to try out and introduced along with the bologna convention (why change one thing at a time and see what works when you can change everything and watch the explosion?).

i understand that they are trying to raise attendance, but doesn't it almost guarantee the graduation of people that maybe are pretty dumb, along with the normal and smart people?

Yeah,but its college,so at least they shouldnt be dumb.Luckilly the exams for entering them have remained the same.For high schools,you can enter if you have at least 1 point on your test.Oh well...

*phew* that makes it a little better, but still seems a bit dodgy, can't they think of something else to raise attendance? Like failing people if they don't know what's in the exam cause they spent the year at the pub instead of in class?

Please,most of those professors are so boring,and they cite the book,so why listen to them when you are going to read the book anyway?Besides,whos going to pay them if they start failing students that dont have a schoolarship?

Yes,youre missing the fact that thats how theory works,not practice.Heres a little fact:maybe 10 years in the past at most,some of the professors on the medical college took public bribes.They literally had price lists in front of them.

One of the reasons I skip about half of my courses.But while the attendance isn't obligatory some forget to tell you that if you are not present they will ask you things they tell in class

You just have to know what is worth attending and who teaches it.

Looks like long hours for holiday for me. Probably 7 days a week, 12-14 hr days until Jan 31. Yay...

Our Northern Studies Department is organising a Julefest celebration tomorrow, and it seems there's going to be "northern foods prepared by the students and teachers" (that's what the sign said...) Any particular "northern foods" I should be on the lookout for?

All of them! The most traditional of the Swedish food all is probably the herring, but not everyone likes it. Janssons Frestelse is also nice, especially with meatballs. And then there's the ham and the sylta and probably some gravlax.
