Heroes 3 Complete Scripting

Unread postby Orthanc » 26 Nov 2006, 16:43

I'm new to mapmaking and wanted to start with a H3 complete map to learn the editor (the H5 editor is too complex at this time since I want to incorporate story).

Are there resources for doing scripting in H3 Complete? Is scripting even possible? (All I have found is the 'timed events' option.)

For example I wanted a monster stack to appear at coordinate X,Y after a certain number of days (enemy appears at your door).

Is this possible? Or is WOG the only version of H3 you can do scripted events?

Thanks for any help! If there are resources out there for creating scripted H3 maps that would be very helpful! :|

Basically, yes. You can do some basic things with enemy heroes and teleporters and stuff, but that's about it.

A small change you can do without scripting is to use what are called trait files. examples of trait files can be found on

http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/bytebanditmaps6/

After you join, go to the files section and you'll see the folder with traits. You select a trait file from within the folder, download it, unzip it and then put it in the Heroes3/Data folder. The changes are'nt very drastic but you can use these instead of scripting and they work for regular Heroes 3 games (RoE,AB and SoD).
