I just bought Hammers of Fate today, and is this "Renegade" Haven facion just a bunch of different Haven units?
I just thought I would ask as I see Fortress is in as an actual selection, but I was wondering when the renegades show up.
This is for people who have played for more than about 20 mins which is what I've done from time of posting.
Renegade Faction?
Spoilers below
Renegade units are the very same Haven units - Isabel has declared herself as a Saint and managed to upgrade her army, wearing red label. Isabel with these new troops is fighting against others who oppose there - the rebels. It's interesting that we were lead to believe that the red units are rebels.
Mod note: Not all layouts has a white background, so I changed the spoiler to small letters- hit "quote" to read it. GC

They are not saying the red guys are not bad, but that since Isabel is the 'queen' any units opposing her would be labeled the 'rebels'. Just revisionist history like a lot of places have . You win, the others are the bad guys and you get to make that history. They win, you are the bad guys, and they get to make that history. Simple really, been done hundreds of times, the winner always is the one who 'prints' the 'news' and can slant it anyway they want.
Warning, may cause confusion, blindness, raising of eybrows, and insanity.

the red guys are being sequestered and attacked by rebel forces.
ergo, since you as the player are forced into working for Isabel, and Isabel as we know from the original is bad, and the red guys join you when you save them from the rebels... the red guys are the bad guys as far as this storyline is concerned.
no doubt about it.
