But aint every breath you take a celebration of your birth?Isnt everything you do done only because you were born?Besides,why not celebrate the day you were actually conceived?And what is a date anyway,then a fictional time unit?And an inacurate one too(thats why we need 29th february anyway).

How are people supposed to know what day they are conceived if the parents have sex daily?

Actually that's how I thought just a few years ago.It took some influence from my best friend to make me see it in a different perspective.It's still an excuse for celebration but it doesn't feel the same anymore,an ordinary day.

DL :disagree:

any excuse for presents and a party is a good thing my friend, and how many people would truly know when they were conceived?

Happy birthday Elvin! (better late than never)

And my random thought for today is: why do people walk around the city with their mp3 player headphones stuffed into their ears, oblivious to everything around them (except the traffic)? 'Cause they do that a lot around here and it's wierd. I, for one, like hearing the sounds of the city.

Thanks :) As for your random thought,I find it pretty natural.They WANT to be oblivious and only care for their destination.Listening to music can alleviate a little the routine of passing through the same place everyday.Still I believe it would be better for them to use it say in a subway or a train just to be on the safe side.Getting distracted can have its downsides...

@TMD
No need to tell him that, I'm used to his jokes and I took no offense. And my room really is in the attic back at home. :D

@DL
As I said, de gustibus... I like to hear the sounds of the city, to hear people talking and laughing, to hear the street singers (there was some Scottish music in the square the other day), and yes, even the sound of cars and buses in the traffic. For me, all that 'noise' (as you call it) makes me feel good. It somehow lets me blend better with the environment.

One can call it the sound of humanity.
