Curse of the Azure Bonds

Unread postby Corribus » 08 Jan 2009, 19:15

Really silly question:

I was going through all my old games and I found the old Curse of the Azure Bonds gold box game. The funny thing is that I have all of the manuals, the code wheel, even the damn advertisements that came with the game, but only 1 5.25 inch floppy disc labelled "Disc A". My question is: does anyone know if there was more than just a single disc? If no, I would try to sell it on EBAY, but if there were other discs, obviously the game is worthless and I'd just throw it away. Funny that I wouldn't keep all the discs... but then why label this one "Disc A". There are some versions at EBAY with 4 floppies but the game had so many editions I just don't know.

Funny I would save everything but be careless with the discs....

Ditto for the original Eye of the Beholder. I have two discs, but it is unclear whether there were originally 2 or 3....

in my game for C64 there are 3 5,25 disks, disk A to C so you are missing disks.

and my Eye of the Beholder for Amiga has 3 disksdisk 1 to 3.

my advice to you is: keep the games, for a collector these are worthless without the disks (you got the boxes for the games, yes?) and therefore very difficult to sell.

Yeah I have everything else. So if they're worthless, why keep the games?

From my experience you wouldn't get much from these on eBay for all the hassle that's involved (building the listing, dealing with the buyer, packing the box, going to the post office... and finding the time to do all that). I know I would probably just discard them, sorry.

I hear ya. Well, I just sold Icewind Dale Ultimate Edition on Amazon for $25. :) But certainly if I don't have the discs, they're not worth keeping.

why not keep them for now, maybe you find the disks again and then they will be more valueable.

but try to put them up on ebay some folks will buy uncomplete games just to scavange for parts.

dont be so hasty to throw stuff out, besides there is a death penalty on throwing old SSI games in the trash, so im saving your life ;)

Problem is I'm going to be moving very soon, so this is all part of my "move purge". I'm getting rid of a number of things I probably wouldn't normally get rid of. For instance an original TES: Arena deluxe edition with all materials. Thankfully I actually still have the disc for that one. :)

personally if it where games ive had since i was a kid i would keep them anyway (was the same with my first girlfriend, wanted me to scrap all my games ive had for more then 10 years, had a big fight about it which i ended up winning :P) but if theres no hope give them away for free then, either to pals or to Red Cross fleamarket, or put it up as a freegift on some retro forum, like www.lemon64.com or www.vintage-computer.com.

That's a very good price! Good for you. Maybe eBay does work for old games after all.

I've never sold anything on eBay, but I have to say that selling stuff on Amazon is soooo easy. I wish I had known about it earlier. It takes about 2 minutes to make a listing. I've sold about 6 items on it already in the last two days for minimal effort. Highly recommend trying it if you have a lot of items you want to try to unload.

From what I can see, the Amazon system is much more user-friendly than eBay (especially for casual sellers like us). I'll need to take another look later, I have a couple of books and games I could get rid of.

Like what AngelSpit?

Hehe I have my original copy of Arena as well. Or did I give it away? I know I gave away my copy of Daggerfall.

Well actually, this is coming from me. I just have way too much stuff. I have literally hundreds of books and computer games that I will *never* play or read again. So... why am I keeping them?

You mean Craiglist? Yeah, and perhaps we could get laid while dealing with the buyer. :D

You might check around to see if there's a torrent with the game. I don't go around pirating software, but if I've already paid for a game I figure it's OK to download another copy.

Google 'Azure Bonds Torrent' and something may come up. I see one here called 'Lost Treasures' with it.

SSI's games are freeware by now, since SSI been dead for years and no one owns the franchise anymore.
