Limbo of the lost copies Oblivion

Unread postby PhoenixReborn » 12 Jun 2008, 14:21

Did anyone else see this? Apparently the game Limbo of the Lost copy/pasted art from the game Oblivion.

Check out the post where the guy overlapped the images from the 2 games.

That's some awful plagiarism. It could not be more obvious.

Limbo of the Lost? What kind of title is that?

It's a shame too because I am a big supporter of adventure games and the preview at Quandary (which is dying now) was very interesting.

Maybe they bought things from them? Sort of like sampling and licensing music? Or maybe they're all a bunch of thieves who deserve to be the first against the wall when the revoluition comes.

You know, that annoys me no end: the use of publicly available sound samples in games. Of the top of me head, I've heard the sound of the horrified scream and the breaking of pottery as the exact same sound in countless games.

That said, I can't imagine they would actually sell detailed visuals from existing (and popular) games like this... would they?

Damn they stole from another my fav. game - Undying.
check the sound in trailer:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BpH8PS-D ... re=related

besides Oblivion, Thief and Undying, also spoted:

Painkiller, Morrowind, Diablo, The Legend of Zelda: The Light of Courage, Unreal Tournament 2004, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, RUNE, World of Warcraft, as well as the Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl and Spawn movies.

@Kalah:
No they stole it.
Tri Synergy is just as shocked as everyone else is by the recent screenshot comparisons. At no point during our dealings with Majestic Studios up until the point that the comparison was first publicly made by a third party did we have any knowledge of these similarities. Additionally, Tri Synergy will discontinue distribution of Limbo of the Lost in both retail and online outlets.

We have contacted the developer, Majestic, and are anxiously awaiting their response. As soon as we know more on this matter we will issue another statement.

What about movies then? Have you heard that MoO2-sound of a ship exploding in any movies lately? Or the Stellar Converter, perchance? :creative:

I think I've heard Heroes II sound effects in a TV commercial before. "Did someone just visit a Faerie Ring?"

Oh sure, movies and TV as well as games. It's stupid, can't they just spend a few hours making their own effects.

I hear the alarm from Deus Ex in many TV shows (including 24 if I remember correctly). Also, there is that very common sound of a screaming cat that's been used in countless movies and shows. It just sound so fake now.

Also, notice how much noise doors make when they are closed on TV (even doors in mansions that are worth millions), as if there was a shortage of WD-40 across the world.

:lolu:

I'm reading the forum discussion over there...PRICELESS! :D

I guess the creators of the game were trying to answer the primordial question:

"How much can you rip off from other games and still have it considered a unique product?" :devious:

You know what socked me when i started playing Red Alert 1 again? Hos much some of the quotes the units say remind me of those in Starcraft...

Stupid EA destroying Westwood... (stupid Westwood for ditching RA for T.Sun).

When Jean Gray walks over a metallic rail in the first X-Men (which I watched last night), we hear the metallic foot steps found in countless computer games (including, again, Deus Ex).
