Music you like...

Unread postby IceCold2000 » 04 Feb 2006, 01:16

Well, I made this poll on the old Round Table some time back, but I think there's a lot of new members out here who haven't voiced their musical tastes yet.

So, what type of music do you like the best. Which kind of music makes your mind, body and soul tickle the best. Vote now. Feel free to describe what bands and/or artists you like or would recommend to others.

Depends on the mood. But for just any occasion, I'll pick classical. It's called classical for a reason.

I voted folk/country. However, I enjoy all types of music. Well, except for rap.

I'll pick video game music.

I have a list compiled of Heroes, AoM, Warlords and lots of other games. These relaxing music I often hear when I study. It's good.

Classifying music is always a terrible thing, but some of your choices strike me as particularly odd. Putting ashley simpson (pop) in the same category as, say, funeral for a friend and taking back sunday (emo) is an interesting stretch, especially considering that emo nowdays is pretty well described by another of your categories - metal mixed with punk. And on that option, forcibly wedding metal/punk with nu-metal is probably such an insult to hardcore metal-heads that they wouldn't pick that option :). I think doing the whole discussion without a poll is probably a safer way to go, any broad classification's gonna have big trouble.

Progressive rock. King Crimson, Yes, Jethro Tull, ELP, Pink Floyd, East of Eden etc. Sometimes jazz and a bit classical either.
Cheers,

Voted for classic since that's what I hear mostly, but I'm also a huge sucker for jazz. I general I listen to all kinds of music; I have a vast Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin collection as well.

Metal/punk ? WTF ?

I love rock, metal, trance and classic music. My favourite bands are : Nightwish, Scorpions, Hammerfall, Black Sabbath and Guns n' Roses. My favourite composer is J.S. Bach.

I am so not voting in this poll.
"Metal (including nu-metal)"? I do like metal, but nu-metal is the antithesis of good music, it combines some of the worst parts of rap and light metal...
"Yes, but what about David Beckham and the magic mushroom?"

This is actualy very silly! I don't think that there's one style of music in which all the songs are good. Me, I like songs not styles.

I would have to agree with those who said that Metal should not be mixed up with punk and God forbid mentioning of Nu-metal around. I think I will skip this poll. Nu-metal is a cancer for music, it is so rooted nowdays that it threatens to destroy everything that really a lot of people stood for a long period of time. I am as you would guess fan of Metal genre.

I tried to seperate pop and emo, but the poll engine rejected it because it dosen't allow that many options.
